Did you purge the blue hose before charging? I saw you purge the yellow hose, maybe you purged blue hose off camera. Also, instead of removing the VCRT after pulling vacuum, you could just leave it on and connect hose from bottle of gas to VCRT and charge, then put core back in.

I use Trace a Gas with the CPS electronic leak detector and it works very well, however it would go crazy with a leak this big and I, like you wouldn’t have bothered using it had I been able to hear it as loud as you could. I also would have done exactly as you did in advising the customer but true, that unit is on it’s last legs and I hate whenever I do a repair like that and it fails 3 months down the track and the client reminds me how much they paid 3 months back and it has already failed again.. That’s why the replacement option gets pushed onto customers..

Had mine since new eight years now. Works exceptionally well. But that's just me comparing with the reverse cycle ducted systems I installed back in the 1970s. The E9 code is coming up often lately, and I'm becoming suspicious of the life expectancy of compressors in these systems running R412 refrigerant. I restart it by pressing the mode selection button and it then returns to run mode. No problem for anything from a few days to a few weeks, then it does it again.

Hey Mitch, a somewhat parallel issue with reactive chemicals in electrical engineering. In the 60's or 70's there was an electrical cable insulating material used worldwide that after a number of years caused a chemical reaction with the copper conductors. It's a greenish stain/goo. I only came across this with a house renovation. Fortunately it does'nt cause insulation breakdown, just a massive disgusting stain, especially in wall switches, light fittings, where you don't really want to see and deal with it. Funnily enough, in the era before cheap chinese products invaded the landscape.

@@CodyHVAC so this has an access panel in the pantry where you can access the indoor boards, pipe and drain. Then there is another man hole right near the sliding door outside in the corner. That second man hole is useless but I put it in there so IF we get leaking pipe, I can get pipe across to the outdoor unit lol.

Good pickup! In future though the side port on the VC2G is meant for a service port as it still has a schrader core, you’re effectively just evacuating as if you hadn’t pulled the cores from the unit service valves (assuming you’ve left that schrader core in on the side of the VC2G). Remove the stem and the schrader core from the top of the tool and attach your vacuum hose to the top of the VC2G, then there were will be uninterrupted flow.

Hey mate, good on ya for putting yourself out there on the channel. I’m curious if you know if there is a difference between isolating the unit whilst it’s running to get the EEV in an open position and putting the unit in recovery mode to get the EEV to open. When I’ve talked with tech support in the past for other brands, purely isolation under full ramp is fine to be able to recover all the gas. Also your 200g of extra recovered ‘gas’ won’t be nitro. It’s lighter than air. Your nitro bottle will have a practically identical weight when it’s empty to when it’s full.

Whenever I'm worried, it's caused by trivial things. Daikin's closing valve is characterized by its brittleness. With nitrogen pressurization, it may enter the outdoor unit. It's a lot in Japan. The high pressure is high during the test run. 4.0MPa nitrogen pressurization is not recommended.

A good diagnosis and repair on the leak! This video reminded me of a problem that occurred with our Daikin ducted unit from 2006, but was installed in July of 2007. In 2015, my dad thought he would get a technician out to do a check up on the unit, but the technician instead made a leak in the outdoor unit, which caused the unit not to heat correctly as it would defrost every 30 minutes, before throwing up an error code, so we had to use an old fashioned fan heater to (sort of) heat the area we were in which was the kitchen. Dad then got another company out, who was worse than the previous and they proceeded to remove the outdoor unit because they thought the unit was done for. Dad made them put the unit back in and repair the leak, and nine years later is still heating and cooling like day one. I was only 10 when this happened, but still remember everything that happened!

Electronic leak detectors definately have their place, when a unit is dead flat there's no use in using one. Systems with gas and an active leak I personally always have better luck with the electronic and then narrowing it down with bubbles is how I do it. Mitch great fix and observations on following the exact process with the technical reasoning. Lucky for the customer it only took the third technician to sort it out or the penny wise and pound foolish approach could have really cost him with the second hand unit. Great to get a good deal but if you are the customer and don't know someone like Mitch that understands Daikin and challenges with second hand products then best to install brand new with a professional.
@maracservices
@maracservices 6 күн бұрын
@@smarties410 thanks mate. It seems like something basic but you can easily start changing parts thinking something’s wrong when the unit was totally fine and it was an installation issue all along! Technicians get away with it on a new unit because they don’t need to know the field code settings to commission but as soon as you relocate something you honestly need to read the tech documents. Which is easily available to everyone for free. Cheers
