GT Sport was still better than GT3.

GT7 is just another late stage capitalism product. They actually never cared about user experience, only about how much money they could extract to you, it was just that the most efficient way was the single player campaign. And now that microtransactions are sadly the norm, these are the fastest and most lucrative way to scam you out of money. No surprise, sadly.

Back in High School I had an idea for a racing game that I made some 2D assets for before losing steam. In terms of cars involved, it was the opposite of Leggera, being some sort of top-down open-world racer themed around the Amelia Island Concours D'Elegance where all the rich people took their fancy cars and went street racing around the island. The car list I made was about 200 strong, with lots of large pre WWII coachbuilds, 1950s luxury yachts, jet-age concept cars, and classic sports/super cars, all from before 2000. Expected racing game classics like Miuras, Countachs, famous Ferraris, but also little-known cars like the Ghia 450SS or Fitch Phoenix. The whole thing being 2D and cartoony would probably make it ripe for lots more content though, and in the time since I've wondered if it the concept of a top-down racing game would be feasible on a larger GT4/GT6 scale car list covering a little bit of everything. Another thing I wondered - if a game like this was made by an idie team, but published without including the names of the cars where the names could be installed as a "mod" made by a "player" instead get sued over licensing? The actual product for sale doesn't include anything linking the cars to their real-life counterparts other than top-down drawings, and the "mod" adds all the branding.

I only know the HSV from it being one of the fastest borrowable cars in GT6

What is crazy is the Nismo GT-R LM is in every forza from horizon 3 onwards as at least dlc

I’ve had GT7 for a while but only really started playing it these past few days and i don’t understand why you have to have a car from that region. Why can’t I enter my Nissan Skyline from the 90’s into a series that it fits all the regs? (even tho it’s stupid fast under acceleration)

A lot of the project cars tracks are also in the motocycle race game Ride4 (and I think Ride5 as well). Up to the french one at least

The non-GT4 standard cars, especially that Jaguar, are all so interesting. On the subject of anachronisms, I've been wondering a lot lately about what newer cars from GT7 would look like as standard cars in GT4. Stuff like the Urus, Raptor, Genesis G70, C7/C8 Corvette, all VGTs, et cetera.

The Nissan R390 twin turbo V8 is the engine McLaren used for the MP4-12C and pretty much all other modern McLarens with a V8 twin turbo. It was reworked but it is the engine they basically use. Including the P1.

If I'm still playing a racing game in 20/30 years from now, and it still contains Laguna Seca, Nurburgring, Spa, Bathurst, Suzuka etc... I will lose my mind 😅

I dont have an internet connection, just mobile data, and when I finally scrounged together enough money to buy GT7and i popped it in so excited to finally play. I was so confused and pissed that I couldn’t play the game, only a music mini game that isn’t even worth 5 dollars. I dont know why its like this but you shouldn’t need to have an internet connection to play a single player game. That makes no sense and is extremely stupid.

I know you aren’t a Forza guy at all. but I’d love if you did a video on this topic but for the Forza series. the Seat Cupra GT is a car that maybe forever lost in the first two games and i don’t think it’s appreciated enough. The Forza series always had unique cars

I remember in GT3 in the endurance race of Laguna Seca, the vertigo wouldn't stop to pit, but not long ago I saw it only stopped like 2 times IN THE WHOLE RACE, when you have to stop like 15 or 20 times depending on your tires

EDIT - Misread thought it meant best cars. GTO twin turbo from the fiorst game, was the best tuner and handler. yea yea skyline got more hp but it didnt use it as good as the GTO. but i also really loved the dodge viper concept car, i actually unlocked it :) couldnt use it in any races though...

I do think this is a good idea but I still think having gr3 to gr1 gt cars would still be cool since for a lot of people one of the appeals is being a professional racing driver, along with professional rally racing but that would be something I would add

The thing I always find interesting about the GT One is that the livery in GT4, 5 and 6 is deliberately inaccurate because the real car had a Marlboro sponsorship and they wanted that to be less obvious in a child friendly game, so the white triangle on the front is replaced by a kind of curve. The GT7 version is back to having the realistic white triangle at the front again though.

I enjoy the original circuits a lot, you dont need to license all the real ones when the “fake” ones are made quite amazingly and some are stupid but fun like this weird one from gt3 that looked more like a beta test area

Something to note at 25:02, Gemballa was also used by Codemasters for ToCA Race Driver 3 as well to get around the Porsche license deal. They also used Koenig for their C62, a road legal Version of the Porsche 962 for ToCA 1 & 2. (As well as some other cars for Toca 2 &3).

Slightly off-topic, but I'm getting a lot of nostalgia during the "Car variations" section. Not because of what he's saying, but because in the footage there's a blue GTO, which I remember from my time playing the original Gran Turismo back in the day as my preferred starter car (it was one of the more powerful and expensive used cars you could get in the PAL version on Day 1 of the in-game clock) A quick wiki search shows the car in the footage to be a '91 GTO, but GT1 had the '92 and the '92 Twinturbo. That being said, the fact that I only learned the difference after looking up the GT1 and GT7 car lists from the GT wiki shows how similar the two models were visually. [You can see it pretty well around the 20:02 minute mark]
