interesting that you are using all the best gear fully upgraded, to decide whether its been balanced appropriately

I can't really tell by that either, spawn rate is the real problem and there seems to too much variability from area to area; one particular hotspot generated 8 morgens in about one half to two thirds of a ig day. I like the stiff entry fee; even more mobs could spawn around even more of the dedicated spawners, say 6 per given time frame of 30 seconds or a minute but yeah, once they are dealt with and the spawner is destroyed, the constant spawning ends in that area. I think a player ultimately needs to feel a sense of accomplishment at least; the way it is now is turning probably 60-80% of the players I know away from Valheim or they are really really struggling, and most of them are long time players with multiple playthroughs. For the most part the developers do a really fine job of, developing (except their network code is doomed to always be horrendous I guess) but in the last two biomes they have gone more for the unique look and experience while forgetting some of the basic gaming principles.

In my first clear I went ahead and rammed the shit out of the front door, equipped my trusty frostner and prepared myself to go to valhalla there where double the enemies of the one you cleared and I almost shat my pants lol Ended up dying once. Those warlocks are some tough bastards when not alone

@@Chanmokeii492 for real man, I got almost instantly killed because there was so many mobs and got stuck, even with bonemass active 🥴 Ashlands are something else.

I didnt play the old build "higher spawn rate" but a week ago i landed in ashlandands and took about 1 or 2 hrs to set a base, we were constantly getting attacked by mobs over and over, imo it was frustrating

Yeah I get it, most of my friends had issues with the old spawn rate. I'm getting used to this one, and it is still a lot higher than anything we face in other biomes. Overall, it seems like the right decision.

People complqining about the nerf... I'm just glad the balance between exploration peace and combat is back. It was really tiresome fighting mobs constantly while trying to explore. And yeah, it's not that the mobs are too difficult. There's just too many mobs spawning ALL THE TIME. It's the fact that I have to fight 24/7 just for wanting to gather some smokepuffs.

Keep in mind that you have full Ashlands equipment and food here, so yeah, obviously it's going to feel easy. Think back when you first arrived in the Ashlands without that. The Charred Warrior is the equivalent of the Black Forest Greydwarf Brute and the Archer is the equivalent of a Shaman. How long would we have lasted in the Black Forest upon first entering it had there been a 50% chance to spawn a Greydwarf Brute and a 40% chance to spawn a Shaman every four minutes, along with a 55% chance of four Greydwarves every 110 seconds? Not long, that's how long we would have lasted. And those are the current stable build Ashlands *daytime* spawn rates, never mind the nighttime ones. And that also ignores the fact that it's quite common to have to fight six different types of enemies at once in the Ashlands, amping up the complexity without those super high spawn rates. The stable build spawn rates are absurd and make it annoying to even hold the ground you are standing on, much less push forward. Remember how we used to have to place Campfires every 20 meters in the Plains just so we didn't have to refight on the same ground over and over again? I sure don't. They can ramp things back up a little bit, and they probably will, the same way they did a too-hard nerf on the Gjall after the Mistlands update then backtracked a bit.

Personally I don't mind the horde fights that much, but when it's a constant thing it gets to be a bit much, I shouldn't be accosted by 3-4 charred within a minute or two of clearing 6+ some askvin and a morgot

I think they have a bit heavy handed, should only buff the spawn rate by little bit.

I think they absolutely did. I hate the adjustment, it's WAY too easy now. Sometimes I go 15 minutes without seeing a single mob, and I get 3-4 attacking at once. I much preferred the 1-2 morgens, 5 asksvins, and 20 charred every 30 seconds. I think they should change it back, and then add a slider for the folks that don't like it, so they and lower it.

Yeah, they need a new slider for density.

No they didn't, we play on hard and its nice not to have to fight 5 of everything all at once. Besides the game code cant handle all those ashland killers. at least now the morgen is not infront and behind you at the same time.

Very good demonstration of using new and previous biome weapons effectively. Love the simplicity of tactics to reduce the new charred mobs. :) Been working on learning how to master the Ashlands solo as well and finding some of the same items like the Mistwalker spirit / frost damage really helps. I'm going to pull back out my Demolisher - you really showed how this is still a very good AOE weapon. Many thanks!!

Uh, don't you have to ram it anyways at the middle tower? I guess outer wall breach solo makes more sense for magic users with aoe. Kudos for solo without skellies though rough biome

About to do my 1st fortress. I watched a video just now, from a month ago showing can't pickaxe under fortress wall but can under central tower wall. i also read something about being careful when breaching central tower wall not to break something in there. So I'm thinking over going over the outer, and under the inner.

I dug out the interior as deep as it would go then made that my ashhome. Can make quite a nice large base which is finally safe. A Morgan took issue with the first base I attempted to make, got trapped inside and proceeded to demolish the lot while I was dealing with everything else.
