nice video! is the length of the russian lessons you booked an academic hour (45 mins) or a standard 60 minutes ? what level of Russia are you B1 ?
@borschbanditКүн бұрын
1 hour each, I haven't taken a Russian test yet. You can buy as many lessons as you like and they will put together a schedule for you.

You didn't need to save money to go to a restaurant. Only mafia criminals, communist party members and Intourists could go to a restaurant in the Soviet Union. Reservations were not possible to get for common people, maybe in serious downtime like in deep winter one could get a reservation.

3:43 sorry, can’t you visit the Ivangorod Castle? BTW: are you from Northern Ireland? I heard you mentioning Translink on another video…
@borschbanditАй бұрын
I live in Belfast! You can visit Ivangorod as a tourist if you contact the appropriate authorities who will offer you the permit for it in Saint Petersburg, but it takes some weeks to process. I believe most tourists to Ivangorod, who go to the castle etc., are domestic Russian tourists from elsewhere in the oblast. I think you may be allowed to visit the castle as well when you are passing through, but I can't confirm. There are some historical plaques around the town that I noticed talking about the towns history, so there is a tourist element there if you have proper authorisation.

"Normal people are all the same" - over 2 years of the war showed how wrong this can be. There are normal people in normal countries who want to live peacefully. Then there are zombies in terrorist states who want to take neighbouring countries and pretend they are the greatest nation on the earth while half of the country doesn't have working toilets. So no, normal people are not the same, the people of ruzzia made it all themselves. And do not compare us with them. They were murdering us for centuries and they would gladly do it again.

Would love to go to Estonia and see the linguistic situation there. Being a Welsh-speaker in Wales it's very interesting and some relevance to us here. I understand that the university in Narva (which you filmed the exterior) is mostly in Russian but part of Tartu university - sounds interesting how they teach there and balance between Russian and Estonian. A small question, when was this video filmed - I'm guessing not in May as there's still snow on the ground and no leaves on the trees.
@borschbanditАй бұрын
Thank you for your comment and question, this was filmed in March of this year, just having a chance to edit it now, but not that long ago! Narva is definitely mostly in Russian as a spoken language, but most shops, menus, signs, etc. are in Estonian and more and more people there are becoming billingual. I definitely recommend visiting, its a very interesting part of the world!
