I'm going to order one the only thing that strikes me odd about the design is having the power plug into the top of the synth instead of from the side or back. Not sure if that's common with some synths but just seems like its more prone to be in the way when your reaching back and forth for the knobs.

Thnx Cap . Hey there is one Cubase feature I'd like to see ( or maybe it's already there somewhere? ) I'm using Cubase 12 Pro and for some projects I will have quite a few music cues , pieces , inside the same project window There could be tempo changes throughout the project. Then I will send out the various pieces mixed for the client to comment or suggest changes...such as ... guitar up at 1min37sec in Track 5 ....etc. Question: Is there a way to set a 2nd Time Clock that runs Seconds ...or Minutes and Seconds, and which Starts from zero at the Left Locator? regardless of tempo. I would find that a very useful tool.

I’m not positive, but I think that that is there. What I would suggest to get your answer would be to get on one of the live streams on Tuesdays or Fridays. Every Tuesday and Friday on KZfaq Steinberg does a live four hour stream where they answer user questions. I’m not at my computer right now, but I can try and get the link for you and send it to you. I am usually there and help answer questions in the comments when I’m there if I can… I usually listen in I have a 9 to 5 that I have to worry about also so sometimes I have a few minutes that I can answer a question or two sometimes I don’t you know what I mean. Anyway, but yeah, that would be a great way to get the question answered that you’re looking for. That’s not something I’ve done but I am pretty sure like 95% positive that it exists.

Thanks , been asking this one for a while , including in the Steinberg Forums. I don't think it exists. One thing was suggested is to set a negative offset but that is more of a global project setting and too slow , especially with multiple tracks etc. I'll check out the Livestream, cheers.

Hey there, all you really need to do is load to sample into your sampler then hit sample. Edit select the sample and it should automatically go across all the keys. I’ll make a video for you… It’s wicked simple, however, defensive the MPC regarding that it’s more complex than the SK1, dude I mean, lol I had a friend with that keyboard back in the day. It was one button recorded one phrase, and that phrase was immediately put across the keys… It wasn’t super complicated so yes, the MPC is more complex than that. I would hope so lol. No offense to the SK1 it was and still is a pretty dope little piece of gear and I wouldn’t be unhappy if one fell my way. But we are talking about a much more complicated more complex in every way device versus essentially what was a toy back in the day.

If it is it probably will not - see the issue it that it still needs power and it doesn’t seem to like any of those cables when you try and split the power and data. Only successful methods thus far are the MPC/Force/ the doremidi host box. I wish I had more news there but it is what it is… I guess. Sorry my friend!

Fear not I am looking into what I can do about it and I definitely will contactBehringer to request that that be added. Crazy that it’s not already there.

With the popularity of the basin beats, I’m surprised they haven’t put it into a smpl trek format like the Lofi 12 XT and given it eight tracks that you can decide what you want on. Also, they could throw in a good sampler that you could put real drums on instead of the PCM type drums that would be pretty awesome and it would be the synthesizer in this format.

That's a really good idea! There's enough room in the Liven to model lots of percussion. Obvious kick, snare, hats, and toms could be modeled with parameters to morph between them all. Excellent review! If it can play deep lush organic ambient drones that can play well with other synths, then im interested, otherwise it's just another cheap "pre-recorded-sounding" toy. Yeah!!!! This video made my day! I already saved it cz I'm sure I'll need it 😂. So now... I don't know which device should I get yet. Seqtrak or Novation circuit?🤔🤔🤔. Work flow is very important cz my idea is live looping. Any recommendations???
@Cap10NRGMusic
@Cap10NRGMusic Ай бұрын
Well, as far as capabilities, I feel like the SEQTrak wins. It definitely has the most instruments, it’s brand new and has a lot of potential… However, in making this video, I sort of forgot what a joy the pads on the circuit tracks were to play, the price on both units is the same so that kind of makes it a little tougher of a decision… But in a real live situation, if you don’t want to have a separate midi keyboard connected to the SEQTRAK, and you want something you can kind of take with you anywhere I feel like the circuit tracks might be a better decision. If you don’t mind having another keyboard with you, then the SEQTRAK would be the best option… You get a lot more bang for your buck. I feel like from the Yamaha device then from novation. You also have a lot more space to store samples on the Yamaha. But I must say those pads in the circuit tracks really make it a lot more fun to make music with rather than the kind of clicky buttons on the Yamaha unit. You also get more range readily available if you are not going to have an external keyboard. You could have up to 32 buttons to trigger nose with on the circuit tracks 12 if you choose the one active keyboard option on the Yamaha or only seven keys if you’re trying to keep within the scale. It’s not terrible, but it’s definitely a little more limiting in a live situation.
@Cap10NRGMusic
@Cap10NRGMusic Ай бұрын
Mind you… I don’t get anything for either one of these units if you purchase them I’m not sponsored by anybody my ideas and experiences are strictly my own. I buy the stuff for me because I think it’s fun. Just so you know that I’m not leaning either way because of Potential income there’s no potential income for me here… I just think is a lot more fun to write music with or play the SEQTrak is “out of the box” but once you throw a separate controller keyboard on the SEQTRAK, it is hands-down the winner for me. hey there - sorry just getting to reply to this... Ok so you want to use either a SEQTrack or Circuit Tracks with a loop station. I am not really familiar with the Loop Station, I am guessing you are referring to the BOSS unit that I have seen around (4 loops with overdubbing). Ok - either of these units can be set to "follow" or be the child of the loop station - it can probably go the other way as well using the Loop Station as a child and the Circuit Tracks of SEQTrack as a parent. What you need to do - is connect these units - I would use MIDI and probably use the Loop Station as the child and the other unit as a parent. The main differences between these units (capability wise) are that the Circuit can play a wider variety of samples but only 4 at a time in your sequences and has 2 FM synths built in, but can sequence 2 externals synths (on channel 2 and 4) the SEQTrack has 1 FM Synth, 2 Rompler synths 7 samples that can be triggered but not "PLAYED" like an instrument... BUT the 7 drum channels CAN be played as sampled instruments... The SEQTrack is probably what I would choose. I have both and personally thing the ST (Seqtrack) is amazing - so much so that i bought a second one... I can put together a video for you using the both of these units with my ELZ_1 play which is a looper also to give you a better understanding of how this should work for your case. Let me know if you think this would be helpful before I go down that road ;) -

@@Cap10NRGMusic Hello! Thank you so much for your reply. Ok, let me give you more context. I have the Boss RC505 MK2 (that's my loop station) it has 5 loop channels and that's the brain of my gear. As you'd say: the rest of the gear are the children of my loop station. Usually I connect a microphone, guitar, and synth to a mixer and the mixer goes to my loop station. Now, I wanna add a drum machine and that's the reason why we're talking 🤣🤣🤣. That’s a tough one personally I’d like to see something like serum… Like a wave table synth that had other things built-in maybe two oscillators of analog type synthesis one oscillator of wave cable with maybe a sub. I can’t think of a synthesizer that has what I’m looking for other than serum but something like that would be amazing. Other than that I mean… It’s a sampler so I sample with it a lot. I do wish there was a way to build custom sample libraries, that looked nice not just a bunch of samples. Something where I could set the controls that you could use for example with the samples that are included without going outside of what’s already there just kind of controlling what’s there and setting certain parameters to keep it within certain guidelines I guess. There were a lot of things they could do… I wouldn’t hate it if they tried to bring more trance sounds. I do wish they worked out the song mode a little bit better and make it a little more like it is on the force. I also hope that they don’t forget about the force with all these recent updates because I love the force, and I have two of them, lol… Yeah, I’m a sucker for things I like. OK, just so you know part of the verdict here… The USB port on the ELZ_1 play does not provide enough power to drive and power at the same time the JT 4000, that said it doesn’t mean it doesn’t work. I just have to power it separately and get only data from the ELZ - I’m gonna try it that way and see what happens. Either way I will still have a way to record other synthesizes on here, though the ELZ MAY OR MAY NOT WORK WITH ITS USB CONNECTOR TO POWER AND PLAY, USB CONTROLLED MIDI DEVICES (like the Jt4000 which has no midi port, just USB) it does still have MIDI port on it so it still can control of the synthesizers from it and record their audio. I was using it with my SeqTrak to build up some loops - which I then sampled back to the SEQTRAK (these small devices together are insane) and it worked pretty damn well.

I can see why you might not need it, but I can also see why you might… It’s pretty cool in the sense that it’s not limited to a number of instruments as most devices are because what it does is it records actual audio as you play. It needs a few things I think, but if you’re looking for a Looper, and a synthesizer… This is a great solution. I think it’s better than the OP1 and probably sonic wears easiest to use device yet. I hope you’re right I would really like to see this product survive… I’ve been using it since version one and before that I used to use rebirth and still have a license of recycle. I love reason. I just really think they could’ve done more with it for $200. That’s what I’m saying you know what I mean, there are still things that it really is in need of and I feel like the effects they added to it are wonderful, but I would’ve rather had them put that time into making the interface even better. Don’t get me wrong. I am getting the upgrade… I just don’t see the need to spend 200 bucks on it today because I know in a few months it’ll be on sale back to school sale or the black Friday sale or the Christmas sale or even the New Year’s sale and it will only be like $99 or $129. It’s just the way they do it you know. And as mentioned, I have a subscription which I buy every year at Christmas for the sound packs because they also have usually one year subscription to reason + for $10 per month… you might even ask why would I bother buying it if I’m paying for a subscription already? The answer is kind of complicated - 1st and foremost as I said, I want the sound packs. And at the current rate that they were releasing them that’s about 12 packs a month so that’s 144 sound packs for $120… That alone is worth it to me secondly, if they do release anything that’s cool synthesize or wise or effect wise, I get it automatically with reason plus… I get to really try it out for as long as I have my license and decide if I actually want to pay for it. Also, I get to show it for the KZfaq channel and I get the updates as they come out, so that’s kind of neat.

@WyattLite-n-inn hey thanks for the question! Ok what the $200 gives you is a permanent license… I know it seems redundant- but here’s the situation, it may not be today - but eventually I’m going to hang up my hat. Stop worrying about having what’s current and just sit on what I have probably, as in retirement when I will most likely drop a lot of subscriptions that I carry (I just dumped Adobe and Safari Books Online last week) and those are great examples of why you buy a permanent license… because now all the work I did with Adobe products, or books that I was reading in Safari books online… Are gone! Yes, gone completely because technically, though the work is still there that I did in adobe Photoshop in illustrator and premiere, and after effects, I don’t have a way to open those projects anymore. As far as Safari goes, which is also known as O’Reilly books online, not to be confused with the browser. I can’t get back into that account technically to continue reading those books, books I purchased are still available, but I’m not allowed to read new books or rent books will call them. And that’s how reason plus works if I decide I don’t want to keep paying… My projects locked me out of them essentially, purchasing a regular reason 13 license for $200 however, I get to open those projects and edit those projects forever without continuing to pay for them. And then I have the option to continue to upgrade to reason 14 or whatever or skip 14 if I think 14 is not very useful, maybe come back at 16 see what I’m saying. Also, most of these items that are in recent 13 that they’ve added to it, don’t super excite me, these new plug-ins have been there for the most part except for the poly tone and the reverb unit. Those two devices are pretty cool now that I’ve got to play with them more. But yeah that’s why I would buy the license though because I could stop and just use it, make music, and be able to open what I made without the monthly fees.
