I have a Minkaire that uses a remote, 3 speed with light dimmer. It has always hummed, louder at higher speed. Standard power switch on the wall to supply power. How could I stop the hum, short of buying a new fan?
@RobbsHomemadeLife
@RobbsHomemadeLife 7 сағат бұрын
Hi Don here's what I would do first Start with the Simple Fixes: Tighten all screws and check for loose parts. Ensure the blades are balanced. Move to Electrical Checks: Test the capacitor with a multimeter and replace it if needed. Inspect the remote receiver and ensure it is properly isolated and securely connected. Motor and Bearings: Lubricate the motor bearings if accessible. Consider replacing the bearings if lubrication does not help.

@RobbsHomemadeLife 2 күн бұрын
Hello Rojer if your windows aren't going down I would recommend trying what I mentioned in the video or reading some of the comments in the reply section that have helpful information also here is the standard information you can find online about how to repair windows that are not going down Check the Window Lock Switch: Ensure the window lock switch on the driver’s side door panel is not engaged. This switch prevents the rear windows from operating. Fuses: Check the fuses related to the power windows. The fuse box is usually located under the dashboard or in the engine compartment. Refer to your owner’s manual for the exact location and fuse specifications. Window Switch: Test the window switches themselves. If the switches are faulty, the windows won’t operate. Try using the switch on the driver’s door and the individual rear window switches. Wiring and Connections: Inspect the wiring and connections for any signs of damage or disconnection. Look around the switch and motor areas. Loose or corroded connections can cause the windows to fail. Power Window Motors: The window motors might have failed. You can check if power is reaching the motor using a multimeter. If power is reaching the motor but it doesn't operate, the motor may need replacement. Regulator and Mechanism: The window regulator or the mechanical parts inside the door could be jammed or broken. Remove the door panel to inspect the regulator and mechanism for any issues. Here’s a step-by-step approach to diagnose the issue: Step-by-Step Troubleshooting: Check the Window Lock Switch: Make sure the lock switch is not engaged. Inspect Fuses: Locate the fuse box and check the fuses related to the power windows. Replace any blown fuses. Test the Switches: Use the driver’s control switch to operate the rear windows. If both rear windows don’t work from the driver’s switch or their individual switches, the issue may be with the driver’s master switch or wiring. Inspect Wiring and Connections: Remove the door panels and inspect the wiring for continuity using a multimeter. Look for any signs of frayed wires, loose connections, or corrosion. Check the Window Motors: If the wiring is intact, use a multimeter to check if power is reaching the window motor when the switch is pressed. If power is reaching the motor but it doesn’t work, the motor may need to be replaced. Inspect the Window Regulator and Mechanism: Remove the door panel and inspect the regulator and the mechanical parts. Ensure that the tracks and cables are not broken or jammed. Thanks again for watching my video and don't forget I put on new videos every week I've been doing it for 17 years

What about a surging noise from the motor? When on High speed?
@RobbsHomemadeLife
@RobbsHomemadeLife 5 күн бұрын
If the noise continues even after you turn off the fan it could be a large amount of things however if the noise stops as soon as you turn off the switch it's likely one of four problems Motor Issues: The motor itself may be failing or experiencing electrical problems. When the motor runs at high speed, these issues can manifest as surging noises. Overheating, worn bearings, or internal electrical faults could be to blame. Capacitor Problems: the capacitor helps regulate the fan's speed. A faulty capacitor can cause the motor to operate irregularly, leading to surging noises at high speeds. Electrical Wiring: Loose or faulty wiring connections within the fan or in the switch housing could cause intermittent power delivery to the motor, resulting in the surging noise. Switch Issues: The switch itself could be faulty, especially if it is a variable speed switch or has dimmer capabilities. Inconsistent power delivery from a faulty switch could cause the surging noise. Usually it's the dimmer switch or capacitor

I knew immediately when I saw your sad face what the solution would be. I have not personally experienced that syndrome myself but can still feel for you. We all have slightly different challenges in our lives, but all can be made better with a big hug! I had the opposite problem in school. Around the 6th Grade I figured out that I didn't have to run back and forth on the basketball court because if I hung around near the opponent's hoop my team would pass me the ball on their way back and I would always score for the team. As a senior, I have continued practicing by still successfully landing anything I want into a bucket, box, and especially a waste basket in a room. Plunk... in it goes from across the room. I succeed because it is too much effort for me to get up to dispose of it into the receptacle if I would miss. Robb... it will be OK. The sadness will go away in a few minutes. I'm off to make my morning coffee and I will make you some too. Hug first...

@islandgal500
@islandgal500 7 күн бұрын
@@RobbsHomemadeLife Me too! I have a fix for this one that might work for others. I find socks I like and then buy multiples of them, say 8 pairs of all black socks that are identical. That way when one is left over from the dryer, I just put the spare in the hamper again and hope that by next laundry time I won't have an extra. I think the extra one puts out an APB and finds its mate.

You're not going to believe this but I actually met a lady one time that she didn't know what I was talking about when I mentioned that sometimes socks got lost in the dryer
@islandgal500
@islandgal500 7 күн бұрын
@@RobbsHomemadeLife What happens to mine is that sometimes one sock will be left in the dryer after drying the dark clothes and then I add another dryer load of bed sheets and tea towels. A week or so later I will find one sock folded in with a bottom sheet, in the elastic corner pockets. Those are always a pain to fold neatly and I'm often folding clothes in the evening so the light is not as good. It is a funny surprise when making the bed up though. I have front loading washer & dryer that are stacked, so sometimes just reach in and think I have it all. Have a stool there now. I try to be careful because although I am tidy, I do stupid things with my keys or other things I swear I have left in plain sight. Takes a few days sometimes to find. I'm going to need beeper-locators attached to my things soon.

@@RobbsHomemadeLife I’m still wondering how you did it. The emphasis points were spot on. If you can get your hands on a used Apple product with Garage band and a functional sampler you can capture random noises and change their pitch. Your presented with a piano keyboard that will raise or lower the pitch by one and a half to three octaves. You want to sound like a movie dinosaur? Growl and lower the pitch. A lion? Same. A munchkin? raise the pitch. Endless possibilities. Not to mention a host of weird cymbals,gongs, wood blocks , ticks tocs and crashes. I have built an avatar voice of a guy I named “Big Tomatoes.” I copied the sound of an old friend , best I could, and played it about an octave lower. It worked too well . I made a message for my answering machine and freaked out the neighbors. You don’t have to know anything to figure out and make some cool sounds. I plug my ipad into a cheap ten watt guitar amp using its earphone jack. I play my recording through the amp and record on to my Paleolithic landline answering machine. Once, I synthesized flamenco dancers in the background, excused myself to the caller and told them to “Pipe down and get off the table. It’s mahogany!!”

The markings on the dial on my stove have all faded and the clock stopped working I also still have jealousies in the front door which is very mid 20th century South Florida. I'll tell you something funny the kitchen has drop lighting with acrylic panels over the lighting and they were yellow and I could never find yellow tinted acrylic lighting panels anywhere until one day I realized they weren't yellow they were just old and faded sorry replaced most of them except for a few in the bathroom that I used as an accent around the perimeter I also have a screened in porch unlike most of the other apartments I've converted them to interior space by putting in solid walls and windows on the balcony.
