Masha Gessen is an intellectual weather vane!. Her family was prosecuted so much and was a subject to antisemitism that she went straight back to Russia as soon as she reached adulthood.

I’m not clear as to how Putin … stumbled onto her tweet of “Thank Putin.” He doesn’t go on the internet, no-one tells him anything he doesn’t want to hear, but he found & responded to her tweet. Had he requested her for the Siberian crane event? I lost the thread of logic.

My sister had BRCA1 and 2. She died. I had the option to have the radical surgeries. I chose to have the oophorectomy as but not mammary gland removal as breast cancer has a very high survival rate. Removing the ovaries in a young woman reduces their life expectancy by on average 10 years. Removing mammary glands interrupts the complex endocrine and lymphatic systems. Please do your research before deciding what is best for you.

That’s not true I am about age of Masha and I hade the same life it’s not true that jews where forbidden in some schools, jews where part of elite Russe up from tzar till today there where in power just like Russians Georgians or others, Masha and her family are part of this elite if she was subversive it’s her problem or advantage as I see her public so fascinated with Masha she looks to me like sad clown who possess horrible Pandora box called Russia and she and only she can take horrible scarecrow out of box as Putin, she is living on his account for years, what should she do without him?

Just love listening and reading Masha's work. She is so thought provoking; each time she makes me question my own thoughts, beliefs and ideas- love that, and a refreshing to the pompous ' woke '

Masha remeber : Germany - and Germany alone - was responsible for the Nazi death camps, from Auschwitz to Treblinka,” Harris wrote on Twitter, adding that “the infamous words at Auschwitz - ‘Arbeit macht frei’ (Work makes you free) -were written in German, not Polish. And that must never, ever, be forgotten.” You are Liar.

My favorite thing in the world is to think a BRAND NEW thought; this doesn't happen often enough. In this interview, Masha gave me this thrill more than once. Her stunning perspective - coming no doubt from the straddling of multiple cultures - makes me giddy. Now I'm going to have to buy all her books. What insightful questions, Eleanor. Watching Masha respond to them in real time, with such DEEPLY thoughtful alacrity, was exhilarating. I stumbled upon this interview (on KZfaq), and it is the best interview I've seen this year (it's currently the end of December).

@@jessicafalstein She certainly is prescient! I've subsequently read her article. in the NY Review, entitled "Autocracy, Rules for Survival," written ON THE NIGHT he won the election, and she basically told us what we were in for. Nailed it.

Wonderful glimpse into pre-Putin Russia through Masha’s family history. A very full interview covering many topics of social and political life both in Russia and the US. An enjoyable and relaxed conversation. I always learn so much from Masha Gessen’s interviews.
