+R3DN3CKAM3RICA Thanks bro! You can do it! 3 months must seem really long for you since you shaved your head twice a week. I shaved my head every 4 weeks for about 6 years straight when I was in my early 20's.. When I finally decided to let it grow, I felt very awkward as soon as I hit week 5.. so I can kind of relate. But honestly 3 months really isn't that long... that's about 12 weeks. Treat each week gone by as a victory, and keep on truckin' bro! Let me know how it turns out!

Set your goal and keep your eyes on the prize! Think about it.. if you're around 3 months into it like I am, that's 25% of a year. If you shave it, and and grow it back to this length, that's half a year wasted! Stay strong, brother!

It's a strange thing that waiting, not so much anticipatory, but rather a sort of victory by default waiting. I keep thinking that maybe it won't be right when it happens, like the long hair will come out messed up haha idk. btw, I get that ur Laotian, but just wondering what type of Buddhism you practice. lol I got all into Buddha Amithaba chants on KZfaq the other day, haha trying to learn about the different types of Buddhism.

+Spaceddout I'm uploading the 3 month update as I type this. Just like anything else in life, it takes patience and dedication to obtain long hair. Stay strong and stick with me through this journey! I don't want you commenting on my 1 year update saying "oh man I wish I would have just stuck it out, my hair would be as long as yours by now". I can't really say that I actively practice Buddhism, since I know so little about it. Like I said in one of my videos, I wasn't so much motivated to shave my head for the sake of religion or spirituality, but it was more out of love and respect for my grandmother and for my culture. What I can tell you is that the type of Buddhism practiced in Laos is called Theravada Buddhism, which is one of the earliest schools of Buddhism. It is the dominant religion in Laos, Cambodia, Burma, Thailand, and Sri Lanka. During my very short stint as a monk, I did participate in chanting, but I have to admit that I had no idea what I was chanting because the words are in some ancient language. I only knew some of the chants because I had been hearing them my entire life.

+Spaceddout Thanks again for subscribing, this is a good question. In Lao-Buddhist culture, there are different ranks of monks. Generally, when a young man joins monkhood as a tribute to their deceased loved ones, they are considered novice monks, and stay at the temple for a period usually ranging from 1 to 90 days. I was only sworn in for the day of the funeral, so I really only had a small taste of it, but it was nice to learn a bit about my own culture. It is believed to create good karma and to ease the transition of the deceased person's soul into the afterlife. If you're interested, I also give a short explanation of why Buddhists shave their heads in my 3 day update!
