did you try blast door blocks for the opening? Turning the wheels is also an optioon, I didn't think of that, but it's pretty typical.

I agree with you, that the first method would not work in real life. I disagree with your logic as to why. There are three ways heat is transferred Convection, conduction, radiation. Both convection and conduction require material as an interface, IE air or solid. However... As in the example of the ISS that you brought up and a LOT of other examples. Radiation, which radiator do in part. happens when heat energy is turned into infrared electromagnetic radiation... which Does NOT require any matter to transfer heat with. SO.. while the setup of a bunch of radiators in a small room that has a vacuum pulled on it wouldn't work as a cooling mechanism, because of a myriad of other reasons. The idea that it is radiators in a vacuum is not one of them.

When I try to stabalize my ship, it just doesn't wanna be stable. It floats around, but the "Up" thrusters are working just fine, it's the rest that aren't being controlled. What am I doing wrong?

I am having a problem with the build, the bottom and the merge blocks keep falling after extending the pistons, merging, locking the connector, then unlocking the connect, unmerging. both fall down as of they are not connected to the piston any more any advice?

Weird question, but is there any way to orient the large grid blocks to the 'north pole' of the asteroid? I want a solar tower to come straight out of the top for the sun to orbit, but lining it up is tricksy.

Any ideas on how to stop connectors from sharing power? I kinda need my rover to stay a closed circuit but it also need to connect to my miner to empty it's inventory... I could drop and collect and them connect with a lander, but those extra blocks won't really fit my miner... and I'd need other means to align... I really just need to block power transfer from the connector...

For double layer insulation, a vacuum is best. The only way heat can transmit is through infrared radiation. Not sure if that's established in game, though

Great start. I've always liked KSP and the history lessons of the space race are nice to listen to.

Fun fact about the van Allen belt, there was supposed to be a different satellite that was carried up on explorer one but it was damaged in transport. So they got ahold of James Van Allen at the university of Iowa and asked if he had anything they could send up. Turns out he did. So he and a student loaded the device in the trunk of the students car and the student drove threw the night to Cap Canaveral. The following day it was loaded on the rocket and launched in to space. Loved the video looking forward to the next one. 👍

I love the base, this game has been a blast

I would start with the HQ first,and then branch out in all 4 directions like the wheel you where talking about. Then you could have multiple sections, one green house section, one electrical, one mechanical etc.. And please dont be shy when using corridors, nobody like a cramped base. Use the space and build BIG =p

Just thought I was chime in, the minimum velocity of a piston (and I believe hinge) is able to go as low as 0.0001 (note the entry box allows up to 4 decimal places). The UI will however show 0.0 even if you do have it set to 0.0001 but if you monitor the length over time, it will indeed change at a rate of 0.0001 m/s
