We just got back from Saratoga Springs. We stayed in a one-bedroom villa for 10 days, and housekeeping was provided every day. I didn't request it, nor did I pay extra for it. Our beds were made, used towels were replaced, and trash was emptied daily. When we stayed at Bay Lake Tower, housekeeping was done every other day. I stay in the one-bedroom villas because of the laundry. So, I do understand where you're coming from.

I travel with 3 kids under 6 and do laundry in our villa every day. Someone in the group will need laundry or need to wash their bath towels. That is a huge perk that also lessens the pain of limited housekeeping regarding vacuuming

Yes! It's not the resort I'd choose if doing the parks for sure-especially with no car! We stayed in the tower once when my daughter had a competition in Orlando just because I wanted to be on property-and it was gorgeous for sure. But it's definitely not "magical". I also saw one KZfaqr find that he did miss the bus because his Cabanas were the last to be picked up and it was full already. So he just walked to the first stop the next day to ensure his spot!

The thing for me is that it’s so hot when I visit, I sweat most of the trip. I sometimes shower twice a day when I’m at Disney World. I like to come back from the park, shower, change my clothes, then go back out for the evening. I don’t want to spend a single minute of my vacation waiting in a laundromat even if it is free. I did that once at Art of Animation and it was difficult to occupy my kids, or I missed time with my family to do the wash. At the Boardwalk, I can come back from the park, take a shower, and put my clothes wash while I’m back out in the parks. I can move it to the dryer when I go to bed. That’s the value for me. Time is money.

I was ecstatic when I bought points off of my friend to stay at Bay Lake Tower in a deluxe studio but we got to go downstairs and do the laundry for free. It seemed to be dedicated to DVC members there. Then when I stayed at the new Disneyland hotel with points they gave you a card at check-in to swipe for free laundry as well (And you would need that because that laundry room is shared with cash customers). We usually stay a minimum of five nights so going home with clean laundry is huge- And what about it rescuing your clothes after getting caught in a FL thunderstorm?!?!

I am not defending Disney here but there totally should have been washer and dryers in those cabins. I almost feel like they planned to have washer and dryers in the rooms where the second sink/extra closet is in the cabins. Especially since they call it a 1 bedroom. My guess is the underground plumbing in the area wasn’t designed for that extra water volume. Probably more a hope of limitations rather than being missed. I will say this reason is why I will never stay there.

I completely agree with you. We're not DVC members, but I would expect a washer and dryer in the unit for DVC. When we go in October we are staying 3 nights at Yacht Club and then 3 nights at Saratoga Springs. By that 4th day I will want to wash at least a load of clothes.

I know a lot of people think the Riviera is a fake Rolex, but I think the rooms are the nicest, especially the preferred view rooms. After seeing this room, I’m going to have to check out more videos to see where the “fake Rolex” label keeps coming from! One question. So the Riviera and CBR are on the Skyliner route which orovides direct access to Epcot and HS. What is the easiest transportation option to get to Magic Kingdom without a car?
@MikeOnTheHomestead
@MikeOnTheHomestead Күн бұрын
@fbueller From the Riviera, the bus is the only free method to the Magic Kingdom unless you want to use the 'Mini'van Lyft service which will drop you off really close to the gate at the Magic Kingdom. I think the "fake rolex" idea comes from the fact that the Riviera is not park facing or in walking distance to any of the parks. Some people do not feel like the immersion is the same, but my family and I think the resort is much nicer :)

@@jenniferrundle6870 At resorts like Riviera, which are DVC Resorts, sleeping 5 is standard for this room type, which is great! Especially for bigger families! I have stayed in a one bedroom but opted for standard view as I could watch the fireworks from Epcot and save some points. The family really did have a blast at this resort. We tried all the food options both Topolinos and Bar Riva were excellent. Skyliner Access to get to both Epcot and HW was very convenient and the ability to walk to Caribbean Beach and enjoy that resort really stood out to us. We ran into the characters daily in the lobby or near the courtyard. I can’t say enough about this place the only downside for me is the lobby is underwhelming.

This is a really nice property! One thing I’ve noticed is that you rarely mention the nightly cost of resorts where you stay in terms of either dollar value or points. Do prices fluctuate so much throughout the year it would be too hard to make cost estimates based on your specific stays? You mentioned this villa had a preferred view so it would be expected to be more costly than a standard view.
@2foolishmortals
@2foolishmortals 2 күн бұрын
Prices do, in fact, fluctuate quite a bit throughout the year as well as throughout the week. The price also varies depending on the location and/or view of the room as well. This is one of the reasons that we don't focus too much on the price of our specific stays, because it can vary so widely depending on when someone else might want to visit. We do bring it up when it's relevant though; discussing the price of the resort in comparison to other similar resorts. [This is something that will ultimately come up in our discussion of the Riviera when we do our review.]

I definitely don't think the Tower Studio is for everyone. That said, the size didn't bother us all that much. We've stayed in a lot of places that were about that size over the years [especially in Japan] and know how to make it work. The problem we had with the Tower Studio was the price and the quality. This small of a room should not be the same [more in some cases] price as a Deluxe Studio. Not to mention, at the price and location, it shouldn't be falling apart like it was. All things aside, for us they felt like a gimmick.

Thank you very much for posting this video and answering my question. It is very kind of you to take the extra time to post things that your viewers ask about. So what I gather from the video is that there's one set of stairs on the way into the building. I didn't see any other stairs. And I also caught a number of times that the walkway inclined and declined. I have to watch out for those kinds of things, so I'm glad to have been able to see that it happens in the video. This is so helpful!

It's not a problem at all! Yes, there is one set of stairs on the way into the building right at the start. There are also some minor inclines, but most notably a longer decline as we make our way through the last stretch towards the loading area. That area is wide enough that you can take your time and other parties can pass if necessary and has handrails ok both sides. I hope this helps, 'cause I know there's a lot to consider. Of course, don't hesitate to ask if you have any other questions you think I might be able to answer for you. 😀
