Grady-White boats are very heavy. That is why they need four outboards to push this boat. By contrast you can buy a center console catamaran and it will run on two 300HP. And it will get fuel economy that the Grady-White can't match. The mono hull is not as good on these old-style brands.

Extremely great move by GW. That's a beautifully designed layout. The huge counter space in the cockpit is perfect for offshore. Kudos to the chief design engineer.

So if I win the lottery this would be the boat that I would get. I've looked at everything up to the Viking 92 and this one is the most practical even if you won the lottery. I mean anything bigger why would you go fishing on it LOL

Folks if you want an oceanic vessel that can handle rough surf for fishing or inter-island cruising. It doesn't get ANY better than owning a Viking. These vessels were made for the deep ocean. Their powerful and elegant at the same time.

I can listen to Mr.Sorenson for hours. His courses on piloting boats are excellent. Grady picked a great spokesman in Eric Sorenson!

strakes make for a harder ride, the entry is superb, deadrise is steep at section two as are my designs, deadrise aft should be shallow not steep, some top game boats have mid and fwds sections like this is but only 10,12 aft, fore stability at rest and for ease of planing and fuel economy

Beautiful boat. Grady White has defined so many aspects of offshore sportfishing boats. The sales rep from GW was amazing. He needs his own podcast! One small nit-pick... Why is the cutting board stored inside the trash receptacle drawer? Seems kinda gross right?

You guys are living the best dream! Ive dreamed of going to Australia since I was a child. And when I heard about the black & blue Marlins there. That was the cherry on top of that dream. If I could go there just once, catch my first Marline (black or blue) Id die a happy man. Ive traveled all over the U.S. And Im ready to go off U.S. soil. And Australia would my first choice. BEAUTIFUL CATCH!

My family has been in racing since before I was born. My uncle Jon”Craig” Arfons started a company called “World Speed Records” and was attempting to set the world speed record on water and was introducing jet turbines into the recreational boating industry. We had several meetings with Chris Craft to develop a hull that would accommodate a turbine engine, I believe that they came up with a catamaran hull. I had just graduated high school and because I was family, I was a small pert of everything. Craig lost his life during the testing process when the left front sponson “stuffed” and the boat disintegrated. The family never recovered and all the racing equipment was sold off. I became an offshore charter captain and am more accustomed to “sport fish” hulls like Viking, Hatteras, Ocean, Post and Jarret Bay. I’m curious as to why Chris Craft has never entered into this market. I grew up commercial fishing Sarasota Bay and a little further north is Anna Maria island. At the northern most point of Anna Maria is Gilati Yacht Basin, that’s where my charter boat was and they’re one of the largest Viking brokers in the world. Good luck guys and enjoy the scenery.

To Eric Sorensen: I just saw your presentation, filled with experience and knowledge. It was excellent, BUT, I also design and build very nice hulls for commercial fishing, recreation, and for comfort in rough seas. But I have another excellent feature or two which I don't see on any boats I observed/experienced which I know you will find very interesting? I commercially fished the North Atlantic 1997-1992, and was disappointed how slow todays hulls go to and from the fishbanks. They take more time going and returning then they spend fishing. I left fishing to become a P. Eng., but I never did leave my desire to produce a most efficient boat. I spent many years trying to get more speed, more comfort and least HP installed, and I did run alongside your Grady White off Vancouver, B. C. in my 25' hull, using a single Yamaha 200 . We both ran side-by-side in some chop, for several miles to the fishing grounds. We did not test who was fastest. They were my very good friends. I would like to share some items you did not cover in your great presentation. I learned some new info from your presentation also. May I ask if we could upgrade our knowledge so you may possibly consider use of what I have. I'm getting old now, and trying to make my design known to designers and builders. My 36' fishing boat with 270 Hp Gas 403 Olds Marine at 4600 revs, gave a 35 MPH speed in SW 15-20 MPH chop. It also went airborne off a 6-8' wave when I tried to outrun an increasing storm. It landed so smoothly, that there was very little impact. I am certain you, like me, love to run smoothly in rough stuff, using much less HP. Your article heading SEVEN SECRETS, caught my attention, since I also have quite impressive secrets you will ge surprised to know. Possible you know McKesson's presentation on High Speed Cargo Ship Trends 1996. He liked what I was doing, and what could possibly improve faster ship designs while reducing power consumption? I have a 5.86' model which was pull tested to 12-14 MPH , from my 36' hull mentioned above. You know well for my 14,500 lb hull with 270HP , what that could mean. Your Grady White hulls are very impressive and well known, and proven. My 36' hull runs with an attitude of about 2 degrees above waterline.

Have you done small 25/35 foot commercial fishing hull boats for rough weather Al?

Bling that you will rarely use since you cannot live on it. I would rather have reliable, simplicity for off shore use wich is much cheaper
