The temperature should be much lower. You should never see smoke or even bubbles. To get a good strong splice you need to push the belt against the plate to form a bead and then stop pushing and hold the belt still for about 15 to 20 seconds. This heats the belt deeper. Then when you join the belt push gently. If you push too hard you displace the hot material and you end up with cold rubber at the joint. This will cause a weak splice. Also this belt is only good for about 1/4 hp. Not the best choice for that lathe.

I always put in inner tubes, like we always had in the fifties. They're not hard to break down, and that is the proper way to do it if you don't want to buy a new tubeless tire.
@chrismakesstuff114 күн бұрын
Inner tubes are another option. But inner tubes will pop if you run over a nail or spike, slime will just seal it.

Yup, on burning the urathain. I'm going to attempt soon. I've worked PVC shaping, and the thing with PVC is patience or it turns black and only flexy in the small area you heated. I have a question when you strip down the wires to change the adapter do you have to solder or can you use electrical tape or something?
@chrismakesstuff1Ай бұрын
Technically you don't have to solder, but I'd suggest it on anything that moves like a vehicle. Solder has less electrical resistance and won't rattle loose.

Most of the 3000w + motor kits run on 72v systems. The cost of 72v battery packs are significantly more expensive than 48v. I'm guessing that is why those diy builds are not as popular.

@chrismakesstuff12 ай бұрын
Hi Mike, long story short on the lack of sound, I used copyright free music, but the website kept claiming rights too it, so easiest solution was just to remove that section of audio. To address your ceramic porcelain question, yes. Just make sure you scuff the surface prior to application. I've done a few videos on Epoxy coating ceramic flower pots that you might find useful.

@chrismakesstuff12 ай бұрын
A trike sounds like a fun project. I did see that the website emou, I think it's called, basically Chinese amazon, had a solid axle with motor mounted for go karts. That might be worth looking into. If this is your first build, I recommend staying with a kit. Motor, controller, throttle. Less daunting and more plug and play. Then upgrade components later if desired.

@@chrismakesstuff1 well i need towrque its goign to ahul alot and then i need distance.. so thats teh thing to figure.. im not daunted by wiring .. and such .. i jsut dont understand how to chose the motors and controllers and battery .. the rest i can model and build to concept it. and then figure costs etc.. to get it made a portable dog agility / long distance ride for going all over the city or 3 hours drive out of town orso for camping or other agility setusp
@chrismakesstuff12 ай бұрын
@@PaulColeVFXwithout knowing full loaded weight, cargo, rider, vehicle, it's hard to spec. Also, exact distance is hard to figure without knowing expectations. But what I can say from experience is I like to run 48v systems because for the builds I've done its a good compromise of cost and power. If money is no object 72v or more will deliver more performance, but components get significantly more expensive

If you own a plastic transmission, pull it out. Take the same pulley out. Take the bottom cage off and replace the bearing with a timekin 35x17x10mm bearing. Its the bearings that freeze and blows up your stuff. Put in a real bearing and it will last forever
