Great tutorial. I just ordered the American All Mahogany Tele. It comes with 11’s which I play on my Martin’s but I may want to change to 10’s on the Tele. I wonder how that would affect the action. I would assume if it comes with too much relief, 10’s would straighten the neck and give less relief without a truss rod adjustment. Thx.

What ott steel wool are using here, looks like two different otts. And that you polish frets with the steel wool and no fretboard protection I'm presuming the frets arent too oxidized. I presume you are cleaning the top of the frets only. I need to clean mine but they are dulled on sides also..do you recommend I use same technique as you for cleaning or should I go all out and protect my frets with tape, or a steel template? Thanks!

I only take in work in locally. My basic setup charge which includes everything in this video except the pot replacement starts at $60 plus tax. You’d provide strings if you want. If your strings are dented from frets I’d highly recommend replacing them. You can find me on Facebook and contact me there via PM. Thanks for watching!

Interesting humbucker and single coil in an ashtray setup on that one. I don't think I have seen that before. I guess that accounts for the different pickguard and knob arraignment.

Hey... just a quick question... if I am upgrading my pickups on Larry Carlton T7 Telecaster to Gen4 Noiseless.. do i need to change the wiring as well? as it seems that now only middle position of my pickups is working, but overall it sounds waaaay too quiet on my amplifier and it is already on highest volume possible

Thanks for the very nice review/demo! I just bought one of these (in the lemon-drop finish) and I think it's an excellent guitar for the money. It came nicely set up and intonated. The fingerboard is quite beautiful black walnut (it has a semi-polished finish). Fret ends are smooth with no sprout. I love Guitar Fetish's Kwik-Plug system. I have a Tele-style guitar from them that was so easy to upgrade the pickups, and their better/higher-priced pickups are still very reasonably priced.

I just got my first Spector Euro LX4 today and it came tuned to D. I'm used to basses with no truss rod like Zon & Modulus so my question is; if I bring my Spector to a shop is there a way for them to set it up so that I can play standard tuning, drop D & D standard without having to mess with the truss rod/bridge? Thanks. BTW - who's bass is this in the video?
@stringmanguitars4329
@stringmanguitars4329 Ай бұрын
They can set it up to give you a little bit of room, meaning a setup kind of in the middle. But when you switch between, your intonation and string height will go slightly out of whack.
@jackshittle
@jackshittle Ай бұрын
@@stringmanguitars4329 Got it. I was thinking now maybe I'll jus t have them set it for standard tuning as well as 1/2 step down and use the Modulus for D standard. I'm also going to have them put in a LHZ-03 preamp in it which is a HAZLAB clone. The owner of the company said I could install it myself but I told him I'm inept with that kind of stuff and really don't feel like practicing on a brand new Spector.

Not much. Depends on the guitar. I’d buy through Sweetwater if they have it. It’ll be close, but due to shipping, especially if there’s a climate change, it’ll need some setup. Nearly every guitar does. Some people don’t know how far their guitar out of whack until they play it after a setup.

I'm going to attempt the height adjustment with the tilt screw like you did. I heard you say yours was originally at 9/64 which you called atrocious but I didn't catch what the recommended height spec is. Can you please tell me what you set yours to? This is a very pretty well built guitar, but being made in Mexico I'm guessing they didn't put much time into setup. Also I'd like to lower the action on the headstock end as well. Will I have to use my nut files or do they make an easy setup adjustment for that end as well? And I'm going to try a lighter gauge string because I'm used to lights and don't like the feel of the heavy gauge it came with. Do you have any suggestions on what tool to use to pull the bridge pins out with no to minimal damage to the bridge? The peg puller end of my string winder tool always seems to put a slight dent in the bridge of my cheaper guitar but I don't want to mar this one up. Great information and excellent video. There doesn't seem to be much out there on how to set one of these up. I appreciate you taking the time to post. This will help me a lot!

I bought a Gb24 cort jazz bass recently. $220 out the box no issues at all (just an ugly headstock) great value, put some flats on it, plays like a dream. A fraction of the price, maple and pauferro neck, poplar body with maple top (beautiful too) same as fender player series I believe? The only thing id do would maybe upgrade the pups at a later date (maybe) as a little more noise would suit my playing.
