Every woman as the right to deny a man a roll if she feels uncomfortable doing so. No further questions asked. Same thing the other way around. End of story.

also, how very clever for a woman to willingly partake in physical activities that are borderline sexual in nature to begin with, doesn't exactly help while trying to avoid getting sexually assaulted ... bjj is pretty much the Brazilian version of the Kama Sutra, it's essentially legalized rape in public, provocative prostitution in a gi ... you literally learn to make someone physically submit to you against their own will ... that's the literal definition of rape/sexual assault ... what's worse: everyone is watching as it happens
@SINdaBlock411

I've heard of 2 bjj black belt male champions who raped one of their female fellow students, the main instructors were informed: all they've done is sweep everything under the rug to save their school's image the bad publicity and even shamed the girl for accusing them of sexual assault ... is this the type of "martial art" you would send your daughter towards ...

@@robb00 That feeling of being uncomfortable is something that needs to be overcome when training martial arts. And, tbh, that applies to far more than just training with the opposite sex. If you are truly learning to fight, you will find yourself in many situations that make you feel uncomfortable. If you can't get past those and overcome that feeling within, you will never succeed.
@robb00
@robb00 3 ай бұрын
@@judosailor610 It's not true at all. It depends all on your kind of discomfort and what your goal is. If your goal is competing, you don't need of opposite sex to be successful. A great friend of mine, a guy who does muay thai and doesn't train with women, is a high level competitor. At my gym there are also women only classes and there we have a female purple belt who doesn't train with men. She is a very good athlete who obtained great success at competitions. But most people are not competitors they are only hobbists who want to do a combat sport just for fun. Some of these people don't want to face discomfort, they only look for a hobby to have fun and forget their troubles for few hours with. Live and let live. If you want to train with everyone, great! If you are uncomfortable and you want to try and overcome your discomfort great! If you are uncomfortable and you want to do only what make you comfortable, great too! It's your journey, do what you make you feel happy. Nobody should feel forced to do something against their will.
@judosailor610

@@robb00 so, first of all, it is absolutely true and without doubt that in order to learn how to fight you have to overcome a lot of things that make you feel uncomfortable or that you're scared to do. From the first time you spar, to the first time you get punched in the face, to the first time you get submitted, to the first time you feel that incredible pressure and pain of someone doing knee on belly and you just want to give up because it's so uncomfortable. You have to learn how to overcome those things and be comfortable in those situations that used to make you uncomfortable. That's indisputable. Now that said, I guess you're right, you can overcome all those other things and probably learn how to fight without ever rolling, sparring or training with someone of the opposite sex. However, in my opinion, that's still problematic. It may be natural to have that fear or to feel uncomfortable when you're new. And of course if you have some past trauma, that may also contribute to it. But you're doing your training partners and yourself a disservice if you never work through that and get past it and overcome it. At least that's my opinion.

As a bigger and heavier dude i find training with women to be easy, dont ask to roll with them, let them approach you. Its training not a fight, use technique and try and match strength. Since im also heavier 225lbs, i also use that time to practice diffrent types of passes instead of just smash pass.

There are alot of things that disgust me about martial arts communities in the states but the biggest is just the misogny that is so thick in the air. Most of the time its a combination of the hobbyist and hardcore guys but those who have been in for the longrun should no better. Your not competing its just practice and there are alot of women in mma who can teach guys alot. Its not even worth an argument, some guys think theyre better than everybody when in reality they arent shit

6:43 most of the time, if a guy doesn’t roll with a girl it’s either a) he thinks she will feel weird rolling with a guy she doesn’t know (hence the problem goes away once you get to know each other) b) he’s probably just naturally awkward around girls c) he has some personal beliefs around “beating” women I think it’s very rare that it’s because they think little of you as a woman and for options a and b above (and this might be unfair since the girl is in the minority) the easy solution is for the girl to ask/initiate the roll so the guy knows it’s ok and knows that she feels comfortable. I think most guys will avoid a girl if they get the slightest hint of discomfort from her because in their mind they don’t want to be “creepy”

Blue belt with some MMA xp here, ya know rolling is not just awkward for women, as a guy I have felt plenty of hardons where they shouldnt be. A lot of guys start quivering with how weird it is to wrestle, but that goes away. I have rolled with women plenty of times, i never had a problem not being "excited" often it just seems like rolling another guy unless you get some obvious north south objects in your face or something, but usually women are aware of and avoid it. Once I was rolling with this one girl, yea she was cute but I wasnt thinking about it, I was thinking about a move and i slowly moved my hand to the next point when I realized I had just completely grabbed her boob instead. I jerked my hand away, it was a little awkward, but damn I am glad she understood I didnt mean it. It's more awkward rolling with women cause these days you never know if women are gonna freak out even when you dont mean it, but women have to understand, in BJJ its gonna happen. Getting hurt happens too, you have to anticipate and prepare for it.

One of my favorite rolling partners is a girl. We rolled once when I was new and at that time I avoided rolling with the girls because I was very insecure. But she asked me to roll the next class so that was awesome and now we roll at least once every class. Since I weigh 150lbs she's the only one that doesn't weigh more than me in class lol. Another girl I asked to roll and she said no and I had to realize not everyone wants to roll with everyone in class. But she came up and asked to roll the next class also so that was also cool. We've rolled a couple times since then. One of the first 6am classes I went to it was only two girls and the coach... So I ended up drilling with both of them which helped me get over the whole insecurity thing. And by insecurity I mean, when i was brand new I had no idea what was happening so the last thing I wanted to do was something accidently weird or like accidently hurt a girl if that makes sense.

Maybe you can help me? My husband trains bjj and he’s really good and into it! It makes me happy and proud of him, but I hate it when he rolls with his female counterparts. I admit it makes me jealous! I’m trying to understand, to get it etc, but I have a real problem with this. I think if we didn’t have a past of him being unfaithful to me I’d have less of an issue with it. Any advice or feedback for me? Thank you and great video

In my humble opinion (coming up on 2 years training) I don't think you have anything to worry about. The culture of jiu jitsu promotes everyone being a good training partner to help each other improve at jiu jitsu. Anyone serious about showing up to train is there for that reason, not to flirt or date. It would be SUPER weird for anyone to try to exploit the physical proximity that happens during training to try to 'make something happen' with their training partner and I can't see it being reciprocated. Most likely it would get reported.

@@NextScamdemicLol, you don't need to start shagging on the matts to hook up with a training partner. Her guy already cheated on her before, so that's a perfectly rational concern.
