I remember being 14 and having MW2 on pre order. The excitement that I felt leading up to release day is something I have never ever felt since. The hot topic among lads at high school in those days was MW2, when it dropped there was like 95% of the lads in the entire school year online playing the game. It was just beautiful 🥹

I had the same experience but with Halo 3. Well not that everyone in my school talked about it or played it but all my friends and I did 😄 Halo was the franchise that really brought us together back then. But I do remember how hype for CoD too was on whole another level back then than its now

Watching this in 2024 because I wanted to remind myself of what this game looked like on launch. I was fifteen when this came out. I was initially kind of disappointed that it wasn’t a sequel to Ghosts, but then I saw that article from Dean Takahashi about the “Clean House” mission, which got me interested because I wanted to see for myself exactly what it was he was talking about. Then I heard about how some gaming journalists were getting pissed about white phosphorus being a killstreak (which, let’s be real, the use of it in this game is extremely tame, especially compared to Spec Ops: The Line) which ended up getting me more interested, and when I heard the boys over at IW were sticking to their guns, I decided to pre order. I’m glad I did. I loved the campaign and the multiplayer. This also came out the same weekend that my high school was having its homecoming game and dance (which, let’s be real, probably sucked anyway), so you bet your ass I skipped homecoming for this game.

I’d do anything to experience a CoD of this quality again for the first time. Everything that came out since this masterpiece was just lacking in every way. I think the new “updated” engine ruined the franchise. They should’ve kept the original MW19 engine.
