If GO is the “second” brand from Germany then where does Lang & Heyne fall? They are technically better than GO and arguably equally finished to Lange.

Here is an alternative and more accurate script. With a quartz watch, you open it up, insert a battery, and provide it with power, effectively bringing it to life. Alternatively, you can expose it to sunlight, allowing it to draw power from the sun, much like a plant undergoing photosynthesis. With a mechanical watch you just wind a spring, no different to an old toy. The mainspring in a mechanical watch has a limited lifespan and will eventually need to be replaced. To address this, you must have your watch serviced periodically much more often than a quartz watch. A quartz watch operates by being regulated by a quartz crystal, which beats at 32,768 Hz. In contrast, a mechanical watch beats at a frequency ranging from 2.5 Hz to 5 Hz, translating to 18,000 to 36,000 vibrations per hour, or 5 to 10 vibrations per second. Mechanical watches are affected by the orientation of the watch and movement; as the watch moves, it may run faster or slower. Quartz watches, on the other hand, are affected by temperature. Fortunately, we have developed thermo-regulated movements-types of quartz watch movements that include a temperature compensation mechanism to enhance accuracy by counteracting the effects of temperature changes. Had the industry continued to favor quartz watches, we would have seen many quartz innovations that, sadly, did not come to fruition. Much of the watchmaking industry remained stagnant, packaging the same generic and old-fashioned mechanical movements into watches for decades. Many brands ceased all innovation, focusing instead on marketing and selling to the public the idea that inferior technology is somehow more desirable. We've witnessed the pendulum swing from technological improvement and innovation to today's unprecedented industry stagnation. Buying a typical mechanical watch today is akin to crossing the ocean on a steam boat rather than by passenger jet. We have the ability to create quartz movements like the Citizen Caliber 0100, which is accurate to within ±1 second per year. Yet, most of the industry focuses on making movements inferior to the Zenith El Primero 3600-the most accurate mechanical movement, but still more than 1,000 times less accurate than the Citizen 0100 at roughly 1,095 seconds per year. The stagnation and backwardness of the watchmaking industry are frankly beyond compare. Sad times.

I also prefer GO in general compared to IWC, but I feel like he does make a point in that the Portuguese line specifically is the more iconic one, so if someone wants the attention, the IWC would do a better job. I think the statement that GO is the 2nd watch brand from Glashutte, without mentioning where IWC stands is quite biased though, and there was speculation that 1916 likes to buy a lot of inventory of certain brands and then boost them, e.g. DeBethune, and I think A Lange as well...
