Many thanks! My original cord actually just rotted probably with age. I wasn’t in a place to buy from a supplier so I’m just using twin at the moment which is making it a bit harder to open and close but it’s done the job until I can get round to doing it perfectly. Thanks!

I watched this video three times before I dared try to repair my rooflight. I still can't figure out why it's configured as it is, and I can't figure out how it works BUT I followed your instructions to the letter and, HEY PREESTO, we now have a rooflight that lets in the light when it should and keeps it out when it should. GREAT VIDEO!

Many thanks John, one of my tabs had broken off and I ended up with a mess of spaghetti and a non functional blind. Great video , easy to follow, blind and fly screen now fixed 👍👍

Thank you! I had no idea what was wrong with this screen mechanism until I viewed your clip. We have the Midi Heki which has a different set up and a LOT more fiddly to restring because you can't see all of the rails and have to wriggle it a little bit to fix it. But with your demo I figured it out and wrestled it back together. The hardest part was finding a proper screw to replace the broken tab.

Thanks loads excellent easy to follow instructions and satisfying when completed. I had no cord, previous owners probably cut it. So knowing how the cord was threaded was a great help. I would never of worked it out in a million years, 4 metres did the job. Couldn't find new crimps anywhere so ended up using the crimps from 12v elec blades. its back in the van now and working perfectly. cheers.

Would never had figured how the strings went without your video John so thank you!! Even thought it may have been your van at the point of taking the rooflight off and it having a screw in the exact same place 😅 Three more screws added and re-strung with ease.....Thanks again!!

Thank you very much for posting this video. It was easy to follow and enabled me to replace the broken strings in my blind. The only thing I didn't have access to was the metal crimps to join the strings. Instead I tied a double knot to tie the two strings together to create the loop. So far this has held up well.

and the trick to keep it going once fixed is to get a can of silicone spray and lubricate all moving parts and surfaces. saturate the strings and everything. these heki screens are designed to crap out so you'll buy another one. pure over engineered crap

Thank you John! You saved us a ton of money and time as our 2013 Dometic Power Roof Light with slide shades is no longer available. We followed your instructions and watched your video a few times. First, we opened the power panel and disconnected the wiring. The shade frame pulled down easily as you described. 2 tabs were broken and strings hung everywhere! We're thankful the string loops were intact. It took two of us to restring both loops. This was a brain teaser project for sure. Now our 8 year old power roof light shades are working again :)
