@@privacyshaman I'm retired but now working as a volunteer for a foundation that helps people who have tinnitus My project consists of a tinderbox document in which I analyze emails, which I anonymize, of questions people ask about their condition and the answer given by a colleague. The emails are then processed. One process is searching the text for specific keywords which are then categorized into themes. Goal is to get more insight in what people are struggling with so we can provide better help. During development I gratefully made use of the many tutorials that you have posted on KZfaq. 🙏 I now want to take this to the next level by analyzing and categorizing the text using the method described here.

@@jmesenig Ah, yes, I remember you know (form the meetups and forum). Sorry, I did not recognize your ID. I'm so glad you've received value from the videos. I think the ball was in your court to setup a private session with me, if I recall. I'd enjoy that (especially now that my doctorate is done).

@@privacyshaman Oh yes, Your videos are very helpful and so are the meetups. It is not easy to attend the meetups because of the time they are held, but I hope to join one soon. Btw. I don't recall you suggesting a private session, but that could be just me. 😀. Would be nice though.

I ran into a problem. Before the first export I received a permissions request to choose a folder (...agile...). I chose whatever appeared, but I now get export error. And now I do not seem to be able to even create a new action that would work. Any idea how to backtrack on the permission request and make it work?

32:36 this is not a basic 101 review I was looking for something to re-inherit the attributes for half an hour. I’m not even sure if this is mentioned anywhere in the manual.
@privacyshaman
@privacyshaman 10 ай бұрын
Hey there, great to hear from you. There are two straightforward ways to have a note's attribute re-inherit the values from its associated prototype: 1) use the Quickstamp in the inspector or, if the attribute is visible in a note's displayed attributes, 2) use the displayed attributes view. The first way 1) Quickstamp and the inspector. Click ⌘1 (CMD+1) to open the inspector. Click on the "Properties Inspector" (the icon with a 4 on it) and the "Quickstamps" tab. In the search box, type in the name of the attribute you want to have inheritance reestablished. Finally, click the arrow button under the "default" or "Inherited" label (it will say default if the prototype is using the default value; it will say Inherited if the prototype has its own nondefault value for that attribute). The second way, 2) Rt. mouse click on the attribute in the displayed attributes and select the "Use Inherited Value" option. That's it. You should be good to go. Thanks for asking the question. Please reach out to me anytime if you have other questions. BTW, which "manual" or documentation were you looking at where you could not find your answer?

Bookends is an incredible piece of software. Over the years, I have used Mendeley, Sente, Papers ,Zotero, BibDesk, Jabref, even the less popular ones such as Citavi and Qaqqa: they are all amazing systems. But, the flexibility of Bookends is just incomparable. It was weaker on the PDF annotation side (Sente ruled that world like a king) but it is getting better.

This is cool! Also nice to hear about Mellel. It is a great word processor. Absolutely critical to daily life. I am not (yet) a daily Tinderbox user. However, I keep a current Tinderbox license because I like it and because of things like this series of KZfaq presentations and your SummerFest. That promotion helps make users think about how to streamline their workflows. It's a rising tide that surely helps vendors and must certainly help writers. Kudos!

With regard to prototypes - wouldn't it be easier to call them templates? Or is there a nuance of that object type that precludes using that name?
@privacyshaman
@privacyshaman Жыл бұрын
You could but template mean something very specific in Tinderbox, namely the patterns and code that will be used to process and present output. Unfortunately, we did not get to this in this session.
