Hiii. Help. I placed the roots half way in pon. With a wick and grow pot and my plants fail. I haven’t had success in soil 😢

Ugh so frustrating! I’m sorry 😞 I often have good luck sticking the roots in water & nutrients to let them grow water roots before putting them into pon or leca. I have a queen doing really well in leca at the moment. Also, consider using a mycorrhizae powder like great white to help strengthen your roots and speed up root growth. Good luck💚

Nice I noticed my new leaf is angled pointing down like this too. It won’t tip up towards the light. So is it normal for new leaves to be bent down at first?

Yes! It’s likely normal- these shift around quite a bit as they emerge.

Awww:( The secret for sure is buying off of the live sales on the Palmstreet app or Instagram live sale that way you know exactly plant ur getting so you can wait around for a big one. My best plants were purchased this way.💚

Congrats on the new BMF 🔥!! I highly recommend using a wire moss pole as support. I made the mistake of using plastic poles and im about to outgrow the 3rd pole! Im going to have to move it to a wire/plastic pole hy rid now. I also always kept mine in a pot too big and it took off!!

I use Mycos on my plants as well. I mix it in with the new media when I am repotting and I mix it with their water once a month. I don't know that it is the reason why my aroids bulk up so quickly, but it doesn't seem to be hurting them. Nice peltigerum. I have been looking at that plant for a while on the Ecuagenera site, PLH has a good price on it and the plant looks good so I may pick one up from there instead.

You should absolutely get one- they are so fun to look at! I also feel like (anecdotally anyway) my roots have gotten more robust since using great white- particularly with my leca aroids 🤩🌱Currently trying out the supercharge brand at the moment too.

@@EnchantedPlantQueen I believe the use of Mycos has made a huge difference in the roots here as well, actually. And more roots means bigger, better plants. The only downside is I have to repot them more frequently because the roots are filling the pots.

Great video ! I have two of the peltigerum and slow wins the race. I have babies on both and I just like the plant it seems so cool. I want the bmf . Just got to keep adding up my Pennies. I think the fenestrations are what set it up nicely. A good haul. Just started using Great white, I add it to my water. We’ll see how it goes. Have fun with your new babies.

So excited to see your unboxing included a BM Flame. Got mine from an Etsy seller about 2 weeks ago. It is a top cut with 3 lobster claw leaves…. What a blessing. Gave it about a week to acclimate and then put it in water with a bubbler with the intent of transferring it to Pon in a month or so. Very interested in knowing which media you are planning for yours and interested in seeing your updates on it. wishing you much success!

Just got my BMF about 2-3 wks ago and it's growing pretty fast. I don't understand why they are still so pricy when they seem to grow fast and seemingly sturdy. Happy I finally have one nonetheless. I'll be looking forward to updates on yours! I'm near Seattle but have not been to PLHC. I have ordered from them before a few times and only had one bad order. It was one of my first online plant orders when I only had about 5-10 plants. It was a hoya kerrii that I didn't know had mealy bugs and flat mites. Treated the mealys but it took me about two years to figure out it had flat mites. It has had the same 6 leaves for years and in just now getting new growth points that are actually making it.

Omg I agree about the price! I would put money on the likelihood of the BMF price coming down dramatically like the Thai Con did. Also, WOW! Do you lose leaves during the transition? After chopping the roots. I'm currently transitioning an Alocasia to semihydro. I heard it does well if you put the plant in stratum first for a few weeks so I did stratum and perlite mix.

Hi Stephanie! Love this question bc I am obsessed with Watsoniana’s transitioning into semi hydro substrates. I have one in stratum that is doing great; sizing up etc. But the most profound size up/root growth has been in water/nutrients. Both plants arrived with small leaves and both doubled in size right away. During that time they lost an original leaf, but quickly produced new growth. I have a 3rd plant in soil and it’s doing…fine. It’s just not as robust as the guys in semi hydro. Good luck! 💚

Anthurium longissimilobum is not one of my best plants either. It grows slow, like you said, but I find it very sensitive to watering too frequently and too much light. I'm ready to chuck mine in the trash and let something else have that space. Second worst for me is waterburanum x warocqueanum (Ecuagenera Queen inverse). It won't hold more than two leaves and it cannot be watered with tap water. The leaves are large and beautiful, very waroc like but a bit wider. I just can't stand that it looks so pathetic with only two leaves and when a new emergent starts the older leaf starts to senesce.

Curious how this worked out. I'm in a similar boat right now. Got a young raven in our yard that can't fly but doesn't seem hurt. Did your guy just eventually get strong enough and fly away?

You are going to LOVE this outcome- he eventually got strong enough & flew away to rejoin his family. He comes around every once in a while and sits on top of the cage my sister would put him in at night to keep him safe from predators, or hangs around her yard. Ravens are so intelligent- it’s unreal. They have such extraordinary memories. Good luck with your new buddy🐦⬛

I use Cal Mag every watering. I started at full strength and am up to 6ml per gallon. Just add it to the water first and let it sit for at least 1/2 hour before adding the fertilizer.
