Great tour! Nice that you braved the horrible NYC subway to get to a gem! On the tour, I can't get over how gross it would be to crap in a pot in your bedroom and have it sit in there til a servant got it, then carried it through the house! 😖

This was also a small restaurant named "Traveller's" in the '80's & '90's. Unfortunately, I never went in.

Amazing that the house has survived hundreds of years so close to a main road. It’s seen transportation from stagecoaches to Teslas go past its door

Excellent video- the engraving inside a bar reminded me of Raleigh Tavern in Williamsburg- they had the liquor in a “booth” like that to keep people from stealing it when the barkeep stepped away. Drone footage was 👍

"all header facade" What does that mean?

Bricks are laid so the ends "headers" make up the outside of the wall.

You are correct about the flag across the street. It's Hawaii's state flag. The Hawaiian Islands were once placed under the protection of England.

Love the pic of the old car stuck in the mud. Route one was a mess haha. Great building. When have been nice if the County restored the inside to a working bar not offices

I just found your channel! And I am just going through a lot of your videos! It’s really exciting… Apparently, and I’m not sure how jazz I am about it, I am a long long descendent of John Tyler! So I did watch the Sherwood Forest one, and the one about Berkeley house! Really well done! Could I ask where you are from in Virginia?

My ancestor George Hume layed out Fredricksburg and founded Episcopal church. Called him immigrant George. George Hume. Exiled to colonies after 1715 Jacobite uprising. Father was lord Hume of wedderburn Scotland. Spent 2 yrs teaching George Washington land surveying. Maybe sparked the rebel in him over campfire talks.

Richmond Virginia is full of treasures. If you come to the city to visit, bring your children and don't forget to visit Maymont Park while you are at it. There is something for everyone. Also, the lobby of the old City Hall building, which was narrowly saved from the wrecking ball is a marvel to look at. Then there's the old 'refurbished' Train Depot on 5th Street, which my family always referred to as the 'fairytale' building, with all of it interesting dormers and steep pitched roof. Richmond was decked out with monuments before the woke crowd decided to come in and destroy history on Monument Ave. They should rename the street Demolition Ave, now. It would be a just title now that the monuments are gone. History should be taught, not erased. Kudos to the preservationists that saved this house.

When I lived in Richmond back in the 1970s our family would go to Roy's for burgers and fries and take them to Maymont Park and feed the squirrels some of our fries. The squirrels would take them from your hand.

Amazing stuff. I hope I can visit there this year and see that 'bath'. I've been to Verona, Italy, where I saw Juliet's balcony where she allegedly called to Romeo. Even though Pocahontas was a real person, I would be willing to bet Pocahontas's bath is just as authentic. But it's still fun.😊

The shamrock is the 2nd Corp badge, not the Irish Brigade. Also, there is a shell strike from Union artillery on the left pillar at the entrance to the Willlis Cemetery. Thanks for the video! I grew up in Fredericksburg in the 80’s.

My Grandfather owned and lived in The Hartwood House until his death in 2005. I was very young when I visited him there and he would tell me to stay away from the pond behind the home because of snapping turtles. After my grandfather's death, my Mother and Aunt paid someone to take care of the home until they figured out what to do with it. He lived in the cottage house. That person had a drinking problem and killed themself in that cottage. My family no longer owns the home but I'll drive by whenever driving through Virginia.
