I'm a bit disappointed that your videos are infected with Marxist transvestite flags. Oh well. It looks like trendy ideological barf. Everybody is so brainwashed by it that they've got no clue. It's very sad. My school tried to reform my personal identity also. I rejected it and then I researched it for a couple years on my own and it's based in fetishes, politics and hatred.

There is a French guy making videos on how to pronounce it. When you say it sounds like Kai-lack. I'm from the USA have veered away from "newage" stuff and neo-paganism stuff in recent years BUT I've always been drawn to the nature deities and my heritage is Irish/Scotch/Welsh. It makes me sad that these old nature linked beliefs have been so side-lined but also swept up into make-believe newage stuff etc. Thank you for this video. I was wondering if there were particular spots she was strongly associated with. Yes, I would like to see a video about particular regions. I think it's more important than ever for people to own their heritage and it's connection to the land. The West is looking at being unceremoniously repurposed for the WEF agenda. I've wanted to celebrate the nature deities ever since my childhood frankly. It's just rather repressed in the USA since my generation and what there is of it is maybe fake-like. I feel people get all their references from Hollywood vampire movies or something. The Cailleach. I've seen some of these Cailleach dolls but is this a new or older tradition?

I think that over the years the story of the Gansey and the Aran sweaters has become blurred and mixed together. A white sweater as a day to day Fisherman’s garment always seemed bazaar to me. The sweater would be filthy if it was used to work in every day.

Pride comes before the fall. LGBTQ chicks all look the same btw. Obese, blue, green or pink hair, to much make up and the only thing missing here is a bunch of piercings. The dudes often look like rats. Seems like being a rainbow warrior isnt healthy or you turn into one because you arent healthy.

“Gender is a social construct” Ok…. But vulvas are not. I will never understand why women are allowing the erasure of womanhood. “These dieties just present as females. They may not really be.” Great - now we can’t even have a prominent place in mythology. It’s just male dieties in drag “presenting” as female. I’m fine with correcting the misrepresentation of female deities as sexual objects and demons of lust. But erasing women from mythology is a bridge too far.

Not really obsession, more like Christianity being used as a tool of colonisation to stamp out Gaelic and Irish culture and indigenous spirituality. Then at the founding of the state, the white Conservative men decided to write laws and constitution around Catholic Conservative issues and kept women down. But that's a story for a different day.

This was really interesting! I lived in Pennsylvania (east coast US) for a couple of decades, and today they're celebrating Fasnacht day, which is basically Pancake Day, but German. In Pennsylvania, they called it Donut Day, because instead of pancakes, they eat donuts. I'll be honest though, I was a terrible Pennsylvanian because I'm not a big donut fan, but I love a pancake, crepe-ish or otherwise. Thx for all the great info! Glad to see you back!

Thank you! I know I haven't uploaded in an age but I am working on several things which I hope to share soon. There's one woman who was brought to the US as an indentured servant who was tried and killed for witchcraft in Boston, her name was Anne 'Goody' Glover. She died in 1688, before the majority of the witch trials in 1692. Thank you for asking the question, she is on my list to do a video on!

This is such a treasure for all, I asked as a young child about life in Ireland, my Nana, Pop, Grandma and Grandpa are born raised in Leitrim and Roscommon Ireland. I absorbed, listen, love every thing I could. So proud to be Irish decent. I am not proud of the states, it is such a bunch of territories have no idea about the other cultures which should be shared. But there is so much racism in the states it makes my sick, sad that the word united is used. It is the furthest it can be and getting worse everyday.

I once cut down a "fairy tree." I thought it would be OK because it looked dead anyway. It was leaning way over a 10 foot drop. We cut it so that it would fall down the drop but instead it jumped back and fell up! Landing on me. Trees are very heavy, even small ones. The only thing that saved me getting my spine snapped was an indentation in the drive where water collected which I was knocked into face down by the tree. I'd suggest not cutting these trees even if they look completely dead.

What funny timing. Here in England I've only known robins to signal the spirit of a departed loved one. When I was last in the garden a robin came right up to my knee, and thinking on it I've just realised the one year anniversary of my grandfather's death is tomorrow. Watching your video made me realise just how closely the two happened and it's brought a bit of a bittersweet feeling. Thank you very much for the thoughtful and interesting video.

Im glad I googled this before I ordered a $50 scarf 😂 At the same time… I’m still kind of charmed by the tale. It’s almost like a tribute to the power of folklore to captivate, take root, grow and evolve. regardless of whether it has a solid basis… as long as the story speaks to some part of our human nature in a way that feels authentic, it is likely to resonate. The story of the familial knit patterns definitely speaks to the part of us that wants to feel connected to the past. Many people feel disconnected from their ancestors and probably subconsciously latch onto things that make them aware of themselves as a link in a chain rather than a lone satellite…
@Ravy_Nevermore

This is exactly why I'm considering knitting a sweater in the supposed "pattern" of my mother's family name anyway. Does it mater if it's not authentic history if it makes me feel connected to my ancestors? It's kind of like spelling your family name in a made up alphabet; Even if the cypher was only recently invented, it still has a discrete meaning to you that connects it to that name and only that name. An Aran sweater is a big commitment though, so I'm still thinking this over before I get started!

If it makes you feel connected then that's what matters, my job as a public historian and folkloric is to educate on the origins of these things 😊

Dear Mischa (sorry if the spelling is not correct), I am descended from an Irish Famine Orphan called Mary Chambers who travelled on the Maria and arrived in 1850 into Sydney. She was listed on the ship manifest as Mary Chambers but also used the name Mary Jane chambers in Australia. She was only 14-15 when she was transported. Her occupation was listed as nursemaid. At the age of 18 she went to work for Henry Keck, first Governor of Darlinghurst Gaol who was around 35 years her senior. He was married and also had had a long term mistress who bore him 5 children and who had died a few years earlier. Two years after commencing work for Henry Keck, Mary gave birth to an illegitimate child called Emily Jane Chambers followed by two more children before he passed away in 1863. Mar'ys name was added to a monument for Irish orphan girls at Hyde Park Barracks which is where she would have lived after disembarking and prior to finding her first employment. My cousins and I have started a Facebook group called Descendants of Mary Jane Chambers (facebook.com/groups/486064800336198) What we really lack is any kind of information about Mary's life prior to being transported. From the records, there are about 4 Mary/Maria Chambers baptised between 1834-36 in Ireland but we have no idea if any of them might be our Mary and so I am wondering if there is more information about her from the Earl Grey scheme, even if it just gives us the name of the workhouse that she came from in Dublin. We are also wondering if the workhouses kept any records of its residents during that period. Thanks for any advice or information that you can give us, Karina.
