All opossums are special! If i could have one as a pet i would but it's better to let them stay wild. I salute all those people who save these beautiful creatures especially those in need and cannot be released into the wild anymore.

The Virginian Opossum migrated from upper Mexico after the last ice age when the North American Glaciers recessed , they have been around for 65 millions years and were around when T-rex was stomping about. They literally survived the KT extension of the dinosaurs, they have a low body heat to save calories which makes them semi resistant to rabies and have a semi immunity to most snake bites and also do not hybernate during winter . They have changed little in the tens of millions of years existing and will deviour as many spiders, cockroaches and snakes they can get thier grubby little claws on , they also have opposable thumbs on thier back legs. The secret to thier success of enduring is that they give birth to 13 to 20 babies every few months but few reach adult hood as their main defensive move is to play dead if scared by something which makes them an easy meal for a lot of carnivores. they are also North Americas only marsupial and have over 50 teeth showing in their impressive snarls.
