Surprised no one ever mentions the mosquitoes on the cons list. Just know that if you live anywhere near a wash, you will have a mosquito explosion during monsoon.

I never really have issues with mosquitos until around monsoon. I kinda forget about them. Being from Texas they’re always around. But I heard someone say to use vanilla extract as a repellant and it works the best 🤷🏻♂️ haven’t tried it yet

How do u like arizona vs. New Mexico looking at both
@travelswithtravis01177 күн бұрын
I love them both but Arizona is gonna take win. As far as economy and resources Arizona is superior. I love the landscapes of the Sonoran desert, flagstaff and Monument Valley. New Mexico suffers from a lot of poverty. But I really love Santa Fe. Roswell had a lot of charm for me, but it’s not for everyone. I love ABQ too but the crime is out of control. I used to ideally want a home in the desert of Santa Fe. I like the Pueblo architecture and the ideal weather year round. But I would probably choose living in southern Arizona. The only big downside here is the brutal summers.

Very good perspective. There are great restaurants for all kinds of prices and tastes. Have terrible potholes seems a HUGE portion of expenses are spent on illegals. I'm a Democrat yet wonder how these do nothing leaders keep getting re-elected. Tip for newcomers: if you need your yard cooler in the early evening to sit and enjoy the desert spray a hose all over your trees and bushes. Cools the heat down for a truly relaxing time.

Travis do they deduct the tips you received either by cash or at the end of the night when you get your paycheck?
@travelswithtravis01179 күн бұрын
So all cash tips I pocket each night and keep Uncle Sam out of it lol. All credit tips go directly to your tip card if you want. You also have the option of all tips going to your paycheck if you want to do it that way. So your bi-weekly pay would include your hourly and tips for the 2 week period. I just use the card, and at the end of the night your tips go straight to it. Hope that answers your question!

I've lived all of my life in Tucson, 30+ years. Keep in mind that this has primarily been in the urbanized, cheaper sections of Tucson - like - Wilmot and 22nd, Countryclub and Speedway, Littletown, near Drexel, etc. I've walked most of the central part of the city, including downtown, all the way to Rita Ranch and Maricopa county. I've never been up on the foothills, except driving, walking past. Most of the people who aren't rich won't live in the northern parts. All in all, I can't really compare this place to anywhere else, except when I was a kid and went visiting places like Montana, Canada, Pennsylvania, etc. I haven't been on a plane in more than a decade, and never owned a car, though. The best part of the year here is winter, because it rarely gets unbearably cold, and would be a good option if you're from the North. As for living here, I wouldn't mind it if I had a temporary place I could set up and leave, and then go farther out when summer hits. I've never encountered violent crime in all my years of living here, except the occasional drug dealer offering me something.

I've lived in Tucson for 30+ years. Cons - Summer heat Fall/Spring Traffic (Snowbirds and UofA are here/in session) Big/Little Bugs. Snakes centipedes Scorpions tarantulas wild animals with mange Crime (In the past 5 years, crime has become worse than ever before. The South side and far west side (as mentioned in video) are the areas to be very aware of. The central side isn't great, but not horrible. Homelessness Street racing Gangs Not a lot of jobs available, unless you want to make minimum wage. The sunrises and sunsets Plus……. Pros - Winter Weather Summer Traffic (snowbirds and UofA students leave) All the activities that are available to do. - Unless you're section 8, I haven't seen $500 rent since the mid-90s. - Old Tucson hasn't been the same since the big fire that took all of the good stuff away. (star boardwalk, pictures, etc.) The foothills are is a higher class and more expensive.
@WorthlessUselessLifelessDead9 күн бұрын
I've lived here 30+ years too. I've rarely encountered any of the wild life, like scorpions, tarantulas, or snakes, aside from some wild bore, coyotes, hares, strays, atc. I've actually never encountered any violent crime either, and I live near the central part. My rent is currently 829 bucks, and that's near the Wilmot and 22nd area.
@travelswithtravis01179 күн бұрын
I live in an older apt in the foothills. I generally avoid anything south of River Road and conduct most business in Oro Valley if possible. But the nature and sunsets and desert landscape and Mount Lemmon are great things to enjoy 🌵 But with school back in I can tell the traffic is way worse

Ahhhh, so you're doing it right from your camera and nothing with a scope. I guess I should have realized that based on the field of view ( : I used to get out with the scope a lot and not sure if you know but Starizona is here in town and are extremely well know in astronomy. They even have (or at least used to) stargazing nights for the public, Fri or Sat I think.

Yep I just do basic! But I’ve done some good stuff. Moved here from NY 35 years ago. Not a single regret. He obviously has never lived here very long. Beautiful nature, animals, sky. 3 hot months in the summer, people know how to work with it, pools, a/c - go out later in the day. Way better than freezing temps in NY winters, shoveling snow, defrosting your car locks, removing your car battery and bringing it in the house. This guy is crazy!

I’ve not been here in Tucson too long, but this isn’t a video degrading Tucson. It’s just pointing out some things people may not like about living here. Besides the hot summer it’s been great. The mountains and nature and landscape are great. Plenty of resources and things to do. I’m content here for now. The only reason that we may not be here forever is my wife would prefer grass and trees over dry desert. So we’ll see. But for now we’re enjoying Arizona. I have videos about pros of living here as well of things to do here. 🌵

The general populace roaming the streets and pan handling in parking lots appears to be about a 70/30% ratio of Escape from New York extras and zombies from The Walking Dead. To say "All of Tucson is a s***thole" is probably an overstatement. But from what I've seen in the past year... MUCH of Tucson is a s***thole. But that's just my opinion. I could be wrong.

The cost of living isn't as low as some people might think.
@Josh-uy6jvАй бұрын
its actually lower compared to most other cities in the US. Lower rent/home sale prices, Gas Prices, Food Prices, Utilities cost and also Insurance rates are much better than places like Phoenix, Dallas, Austin, Houston, Seattle, Las Vegas, Tampa, any place in Cali and in the east coast also. The jobs may not pay as well, but the CoL is definitely better than most places!
