Please take this advice. I have this same machine and I was cleaning it with the same type of wire wheel and occasionally a grinding wheel. Eventually I put a hole in the bottom of the kettle. To replace JUST THE KETTLE is over $2000 plus shipping. I had mine repaired but it changed the shape and bottom of the kettle. Lost time and money and the kettle is never the same. Think about it - metal on metal is abrasive and it takes small amounts off the kettle every time. I learned a very hard lesson. Gold Medal makes a cleaning powder that I tried and I could not believe how good it worked. Much better than the grinding with no effort. And no, I do not work for Gold Medal - lol. I am more than 10 years with 3 different machines and using that grinder was the worst mistake I have made in those 10 years. Don't take the chance! I tried a hard non-metal paint removing tool on my drill and that worked OK but clogs up with sugar. I also tried just heating the kettle with nothing in it to burn off everything, and that works ok. But the solution from Gold Medal has been the best way I have found to clean the kettle fast. It is called Heat N Kleen. Good Luck

Can someone please tell me why whenever I make cotton candy it always shrivels up within minutes? I've been thinking of starting a cotton candy business. I bought a cotton candy machine for home use to to try and get the feel of it first. The cotton candy always starts out great, (round and fluffy)but within 5 minutes or less, it shrivels up😢. I don't know where I am going wrong. Would be helpful with any tips.

You have to seal it in a bag or container. The heat and moisture in the air is what effects the fluffyness of your sugar.

The "starts with S" - Saccharin? This is sometimes used in China... ubiquitous artificial sweetener, but it's a carcinogen so not recommended. Some of the Chinese websites that sell these sell little packets of "popcorn saccharin". I plan on experimenting with some of the more modern aritificial sweeteners and salt to see if I can't popcorn-cannon a load of "kettle" corn! BTW, you can puff all kind of things like rice etc. Also, I think it would be a fun project to use a gas burner, some kind of power-driven spinning motor, and an electronic pressure gauge to partially automate the process. The attraction is probably the "Boom". :D

If I was serving I wear a hat, I use gloves, mask, and I follow heaith deosrtment guidelines. 2) I'm repairing the kettle. The burned sugar went all over my clothes. Low low heat is the difference maker with Glazepop Caramel. We turn down our gas 5 psi from where we pop Kettle Corn. Another little trick we do is add more oil than normal, and then add some sugar to the mix as well. We never burn it, and it is a bit sweeter. We do the same thing with their Chocolate mix as well.
