This is a brilliant recipe! I love the fact that there is not a bunch of sugar in it , like traditional jams. And who knew that Chia seeds would thicken up so beautifully? so awesome can`t wait to try it with blueberries.
@SnazzyVeganLife28 күн бұрын
Oh, blueberries! Yum! Are those fresh from your garden? Please do let me know how it comes out. I love that there's not a bunch of sugar too. Store-bought jams have so much sugar. I meant to add that the amount of sweetener will also depend on how sweet your berries are to begin with. Those raspberries sure were tart! Enjoy!! :)

how many calories all together?
@SnazzyVeganLifeАй бұрын
Hi Amelia! These bars are more like the size of a king-size snickers bar so my experience is that the serving size would be half a bar. I put the recipe into My Fitness Pal and for 1/2 a bar, it comes out to 234 calories. There are adjustments you could make to lower the calories if you wanted to. Let me know if you want some ideas on that. I hope this helps! :) Sharon

Maybe use a skewer to contain the chocolate and drizzle over the bars, so there’s no excessively thick coating? And use a rack to let the excess chocolate drip off. Let it harden and make chocolate chunk cookies. Lol. Edit: My apologies, always great recipes. We appreciate you and you innovate ideas.

Tried them. I LOVE sweets, but those almost knocked me out because of how sweet they were. I think using regular sugar would have been better, especially since these ones don´t taste like Snickers at all. I could only taste dates, no caramel at all. I´m not sure if I want to make those a second time, but if I did, I would use fewer dates, try a different caramel recipe, and add more peanuts.
@SnazzyVeganLife3 ай бұрын
Hi Julia, so sorry you didn't like how they turned out. You could definitely make a traditional caramel. The goal of this recipe was to make it free of refined sugar. If it's too sweet for you, you could adjust the ratio of dates to nut butter for that caramel layer. Adding more peanuts would also help. If you want a traditional caramel that is also vegan, here's one you may want to try. I haven't made it, but it has great reviews. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ftWKmZmg0968eYU.htmlsi=O2OrOUqXfkq0dWwm&t=206 I hope that works out better for you. :) Sharon

Can I get away with just using one of the flours?
@SnazzyVeganLife4 ай бұрын
Which flour would you use? My hunch is that it will work. The texture will be different, but I think you can get away with it. Give it a go. After you make it, test to make sure you like it before putting it all together. That said, the other components - the caramel layer with the nuts and chocolate - will elevate that nougat layer. I hope it does and that you enjoy it. Would love to know how it goes. 😃
