It's too bulky and not very stealthy mate. And way too overpriced for what it is. I think Ohuhu or one of them Chinese no-brand ones for a tenner, would be a better option - still too bulky for me though. You can use 2 cans and a multitool to make one for free, and it would be much lighter and less bulky. Depends what your needs and environment are really. Sometimes all you need is to boil a Crusader cup (750ml), and in 15min burn time you can cook up a whole hearty meal.
@WorldSurvivalist
@WorldSurvivalist 3 ай бұрын
Its relatively easy to pack as it basically thr size of a small billy can. So if yiur doing a trip that you have a pot like that anyway its no more space. It is actually far more stealthy than a similar size fire as it burnt far more efficiently. A few people have talked about coffee can type burgers. This is not thr same thing, its not just a can you burn in its double walled with air intakes and outlets to alow for a second gasification burn. You don't get that by putting holes in a can. It is over priced tho I'll give you that.
@garenkarapetian709
@garenkarapetian709 3 ай бұрын
@@WorldSurvivalist I’m well aware what a wood gas burning stove is. What I meant by saying it’s bulky, there are other gasification stoves that can be obtained for like £10-£20 which are the same volume as yours, but pack in half the size. Have a look at Ohuhu - they’ve been around for more than 10 years. But there are even more compact ones out there. I guess “stealthy” is a relative and subjective term. I don’t have a Billy can in my setup (no space for it) - just a Crusader cup.

Ridiculous. The guy recognizes that he is never used the parang in the tropics, yet he recommend it as first choice for the tropics. Unbelievable bs. Go use a machete, a golock, a bolo, a parang in the tropics and then come and recommend one you actually USED to the internet.
@WorldSurvivalist
@WorldSurvivalist 4 ай бұрын
What is it you are disagreeing with? Plenty of people have used all the tools you mention in different tropical environments, they each have a use and place depending on ecology and intended function. The thing about researching subjects such as this is you fall on the body of work others have done to make an informed choice. You Don't have to personally run your own experiment every time you want gear or information. Knowledge is what guides me to obtaining the best gear for my future tasks. It would be ridiculous to take everything just so I could run my own experiments. I'm fairly sure I can also choose and recommend the best sled to take to Antarctica. Yet I've never been. Plenty of people have however and there Knowledge is passed on. Thanks for watching

A very good presentation -- thanks! I believe the evidence shows how vastly underrated the modular pack system is (this is currently the 2nd comment @ < 1K views). I'm old enough to have used everything from aluminium framed backpacks, to internal fiberglass framed rucksacks, to day packs and lumbar bags. The first thing that experience has shown is how poorly hip belts distribute weight from the shoulders in carrying a backpack, especially when the terrain varies from the level and flat. The second issue is the exquisite difficulty in striking a balance between adequate preparation and accessibility. Independent of the specific contents of a hip pack, pocket kit, or backpack -- the modularity of such a layered system addresses both. To the military user, modularity invites an easier competence and flexibility without excessive duplication. For a civilian, freedom of movement without sacrifice of readiness is very attractive. Most users will appreciate some features of both perspectives -- so much so, that I believe the future of outdoor gear and systems will be increasingly tailored to this mode of carrying.

Have had mine for a few years. Yeah, the sleeves are too long and there's no way to roll them up neatly. I hate the various patches on the chest and especially the chevrons on the sleeve which are conspicuously absent from all marketing material. The chevrons show exactly nowhere on any website selling this jacket, not even on Brandit's own website. The fabric has disappointed me a bit. Managed to snag a side pocket on something and the fabric, not the seam, tore. The upside is that it's warm. Been using it down to -28C without the liner and it's been warm enough as such. I once used the liner with a thin windbreaker at -15C and it was way too warm. Not often you can say that.

I did your trick with the duct tape cup to hold everything. Then later I realized I had some old Nalgene bottles that I don't use anymore. So i just cut it to the height that fits. Gives a little reduced room for everything. But then you have a more rugged container for holding things. Truth is, I can fit the duct tape cup over it to have three containers. But this fits pretty tight and makes it difficult to get things out of the cook pot without dumping everything.

Serrated on both ends? Well, it has two EDGES, but the rest of us consider the point one end and the butt the other. Also, that knife has no serrations on it at all, except for the microscopic Dendrites(steel “hairs”that make up the sharpened edge)Both edges are fine edge.Cold steel has a wicked serration pattern and I wish they WOULD put it on both edges of some of their double edge knives.And maybe the Raja. And some of their spikes. On the other hand, look how long it took them to put the serrations on the marauder.

@@WorldSurvivalist not to nitpick, but I went back and checked. Sure and I recognize the brogue, but whether your accent was an accident or not I’m pretty sure you said serrated on both ends. I was just having a bit of fun with your accent, reminds me of my great grandmother.Sorry you can’t carry one of those over there, can’t carry one most places over here either because of the double edge. Glad to see you could at least own one. That said they come in two sizes, that one and a larger 5 inch blade. Cold steel also makes a smaller double edge blade call the Hideout which is slightly different, and has a double edged saber grind that IS ground from both sides equally and has a slightly different handle.They used to make a small hollow ground dagger ground on both sides in the Para Edge series.

People are drawn into expensove stuff. Everyone has this, gear junkies want to jump to thr next cool thing. Thry all bought this years ago because it was light, but now that everyone has it, thry webt for the soto windmaster which weights, and costs, much more. I took this on longer hikes to cut down weight. But truth be told, it is almost only good to boil water. It Concentrates the heat in a tiny spot. It's loud and rhr pot stand is narrow.

It was definitely jumped on my the toothbrush snapping brigade as I call them. That being said I still use this very stove years later. To me its a perfect illustration of why we shouldn't assume something has to be an over engineerd over priced bit if kit. Boiling water is really the only thing you should be doing on a hike.

I've ran into that lace bite your talking about and I get it with just about any lace. I had to find different ways to tie the boot different ways to to it in that area. I found using surgeon knots in those problem areas you can adjust the tightness better and it stays so I don't get that rub. I'd rather have Paracord for just in case situations. But that's my opinion. Plus I think those surgeons knots looks pretty cool adds a little extra to the way the laces look and I have complete control on how tight you make each window box I do find that Paracord stays tighter then regular strings I like the snug feeling
@WorldSurvivalist
@WorldSurvivalist 8 ай бұрын
Had a look at thr knots your talking about, there are a few with the same name but I think I get what mean. Ill give it a try and see if it makes much of a difference with my new boots. To be honest I think thr idea of having para cord as a just in case is a bit of a survival myth, it would have to be a very odd situation to need to remove a boot lace to do something you couldn't do with clothing or something else. Thanks for watching ill definitely look at that knot more

There are no free lunches in the world. If they changed the shape of the blade on this knife and made it perfectly symmetrical on both sides then the knife would either have a weaker tip for the same amount of metal used, or they would have to add more material which in turn would make the knife heavier and more top-heavy. They clearly wanted to find a balance between light weight and a strong tip.
