The most boring shoe I’ve ever used. Feels like it does nothing, I returned them

Put together a complete Puma training rotation recently - Magnify Nitro 2, Deviate Nitro 2, and Fast-R Nitro Elite. Magnify is the best max cushion I've ever tried. Deviate Nitro 2 is the best daily trainer ever, and the Fast-R is good for runs and workouts that have a fast focus. Overall, the Deviate is the most fun, and I'll be buying another, since I'll wear out that one first.

Hey Ben! I'm looking to upgrade from the Brooks Adrenaline 22 to something more inspiring. Between the Asics Superblast and the Saucony Speed 3, which would you recommend more? I need support but I'm looking for nice energy return as well. Cheers!

I like my pair but i find them bad in the wet, quite slippery with any water around. This makes them annoying for races because you have to slow right down whenever there’s a drinking water point because of all the water on the ground, otherwise you feel like you're gonna slip

The 'within two years' requirement is so harsh for int'l runners and leads to a very Euro-centric competition.

Hey Ben! I watched your review. I just got my Nike Pegasus Shield last week. I have a concern about the shoes getting torn in the upfront part. You mention it makes the pop up sound when you walk. Is there a change that they get torn after some walks?

I would switch brand loyalty to Puma but have one concern. I’m size 11.5 uk but Puma are either size 11 or 12. I’m dubious about sizing up or down and visited a Puma store (could feel an 11 wrap to my big toe but had heel slippage in a 12). Unsure if I take the plunge with an 11… My view is they may stable, well thought through shoes with better grip than most other brands. I notice Puma also comes off as a nearly brand. It’s “nearly as good as” a Saucony or maybe an ASICS/Adidas yet it’s nearly always better value.

I've had these for a while, great shoe. The people complaining about the pop are real nitpickers to me. I didn't notice it at all and it even goes away after a while. I love these for running in winter.

The first and last Hoka shoes that I will purchase (Bondi 8). It is like running in soft sand, and these runners managed to knock 1 minute/km off my average run time. They just suck the life from your legs as you increase time and kms. I would avoid these shoes for anyone that 1) enjoys running and 2) wants to keep enjoying running. Where they might add value is for recovery days, or for people that are training for an event that has them running through knee deep mud or in very soft sand across sand dunes. I am a heavy runner (90kg+) that runs 50km+ each week, and have not had an injury in about 5 years. These shoes changed that. My knees and ankles were inflamed and sore for days after running a slow 10km. I usually wear Saucony or On Cloud shoes, and have recently switched back...and the muscle soreness disappeared...and my times magically came back up to my normal average!! They are OK and comfortable for wearing around the house as a pair of slippers, but as a shoe for running - i would not recommend.

One thing I can appreciate is that speed is no factor but at the same time I do appreciate that Ironman for example is performance based... i went to 70.3 worlds 2021 based on finshing position in a race which i felt was fair to auto-qualify. Maybe the combination of lottery in addition to qualifing position would be cool... for example if you show up and finish like top 10% or even top 5% of a 100k or 100m UTMB race, i feel you ought yo qualify. Meanwhile, everyone gets their chance in the lottery. Just a though

@intrainingruntalk6806 5 ай бұрын
You can qualify without the lottery by placing in the top 10 at a UTMB major or top 3 at a World series event. There is also direct qualification by running a race where you achieve a high UTMB index (different for male and female).

What I love about ON shoes is the "cushion to responsiveness ratio". Every other running shoe that offers the same shock absorption and stability feels awful to run to me. Like running on a 5cm foam block with zero connection to the surface.

I got this just cauze it was monsoon season this past 2 months where I’m from so I’m getting annoyed that my regular running shoes getting soaked each time though I have a few for rotation but just reserve them for race day. Yeah not ideal for warm climate cauze I don’t live in a snowy area. Do feel warm but not the bad kind that ur feet soaked with sweat inside😂 The upper annoying sound doesn’t bother once u break in or go really fast maybe you’ll notice on casual walks. Comfort is average I mean u want softer u can get the invisibles . Aesthetically looks nice and a certified all rounder workhorse.

I recently ran a 2:20 marathon, and building towards my first comrades. Currently use the boston 12 and nitro elite (end of its life) as my daily trainers, and now needing a new shoe. I enjoy the poppy shoes, however also needing the cushioning and durability that comes with comrades running. My two considerations currently are the novablast 4 and the endorphin speed 3 ? which would you go for ?? thanks
