I think it is about firstly connecting with the part of you who cared about the goal. So for example if music is your thing and you are not seeing concerts, musicals, playing your instrument then you become disconnected. I think before you do anything you try and find the joy and love you once had.

Completely agree. There are going to be those people out there but regardless it is still a flag (one to dig a little deeper) ask more questions and try and find out why. I think it is often a sign of childhood abandonment.

my entire model of love came from a narcissistic household. I loved quickly and deeply, which put healthy people off and made me a meal for women with similar issues. I was doing a lot of things that looked narcissistic without the associated intentions, also muddied by my autism. I became Muslim before my relationship disasters, and was not following the religion for reasons I now realise we're my weaknesses. My solution now I'm back on a straighter path is to marry a Muslim woman, who puts her faith in Allah before me, wouldn't abuse the love given, and would return it. Islamic guidance is the best antidote too narcissism, victim and perpetrator. Unfortunately though, as with all systems of thinking, it can be distorted and abused so you have to do due diligence.

I would see it as a game of tennis. You hit the ball and then hit it back. It should be gradual and not all one person. It should be organic and not feel forced.

I hope you continue to find joy. I completely understand that sometimes these things come out when they are not intended. I think you can still get through in a healthy way if the person understands their issues and where they are coming from. That kind of self knowledge is a beautiful trait.
