Regarding this Al Jarreau's CD.... I do not have original one, but is there some differences between first three songs and the other ones in slightly different sound - sound quality? After 3rd song sound is a bit more mature, coherent and fuller. Any similar impressions or feedback please?

Oh boy, this David Sylvian album is crazy good on every level, with Holger Czukay from CAN making these bakground noise, short waves radio samples, etc, etc. I can't help but play this record for those who don't know David Sylvian universe. The more time fly the better it seems to get. I'd love to try this phono stage for sure. Great review guys!

Here I was in Corfu at 3am, suffering with a specially imported UK flu virus courtesy of visiting relatives and dosed up to the eyeballs. I couldn't sleep, I'd become slightly constipated due to the flu cure blocking all bodily functions and the night loomed long and mournful before me. Then, I spotted the latest Hi-Fi Riff video lurking at the top of the KZfaq subscription page. "Why not?", I thought. "I can't feel any worse".......21 minutes later and the World is spinning beautifully again. You two and your little, smiley boy have done the trick. The Smiths, Scritti and Microdisney all get a mention - I've got them all on vinyl with an extended Miles Davis solo on Scritti's "Oh Patti" single. I can safely say that all my problems are behind me now. Thanks, Guys.

Money in this market has got utterly ridiculous cost of speakers,electronics,transmission lines no sound is worth these prices
@user-do1nc8wx2j3 күн бұрын
Only £20,000 ??? What a f*ck you think you selling, kidney? We have 2 much greedy people on planet who overprice their products! Even more so those who have excess money and have nowhere and nothing on to spend it! On the other hand people live on one £ per day if they are lucky ... In my youth, I worked for a company that installed Dolby equipment in movie theaters and professionally serviced electronics, computers, etc. There was a time when I wanted to buy an extremely expensive pair of studio speakers, but even then I felt that there is no such perfect speaker on the planet that is worth the money no matter what he does with them, maybe for 10% of the selling price at best. Yes... I know what I'm writing, I'm very familiar with the limit of each embedded part as an electrician and what makes the difference. my point is the following, about 30 years ago I bought quality drivers, made the calculations for boxes myself, made output amplifiers, transformers... the smile and satisfaction is always huge when I see and hear the product of my labor, in 30 years absolutely no repair! Now at 52 years, 30+ when mine were made... I'd love to compare them to these £20,000 ones but I'd never begrudge my babies ever The fact that you still listen to records apart from a digital source with superior dynamics, signal quality, noise, etc. etc. tells you that you have paid so much money in vain because you are not using the advantages of modern technology, or to be more precise... if you have an FM source radio, it makes no difference whether you listen to music on £200 or £20,000 sound boxes and that fact, only in STUDIIO envirement, period

Now it’s over a year since the review how would you compare this against the similar priced Rega Elicit mk 5 and the much cheaper Elex mk 4 both of which seem to offer similar features? To be honest I am fancying the Elex at £1200 but if you think the Audiolab or Elicit are superior I would consider them as well. I intend to partner with Audiolab 9000CDT and Wharfdale Evo 4.4 speakers. I ask because I am housebound and rely on expert advice as it is virtually impossible for me to visit a hifi dealer.

For what it’s worth I auditioned these against the Ls50’s and Lumina 2’s. Went for these as I found them the most neutral and listenable for longer periods. Lumina were lovely but slightly bright treble to my ears. Didn’t like the Ls50’s, detailed but found them lacking in excitement. These were tested with both a Roksan K3 and Exposure 3510.

I want a set of kerr acoustics speakers! Those new bookshelves look really interesting. Curious to know more about them, costs, ECT. The sugden would be killer in my rig. I built a pair of aperiodic transmission line cabs (quite large) for a eight inch full range driver. It's a paper cone under hung voice coil and huge 10lb alnico magnets. It's got some beautiful detail and plays wonderfully with a solid state amp with a tube preamplifier. They are 94db efficient. I bet that sugden would slay with this set up. When i fire it up all these thoughts go away. Still that sugden in anodized blue would melt me.

Excellent! An affordable alternative may be the 6000N play by Audiolab, that has a similar no-nonsense front but with 6 presets. Now with the introduction of both the 7000 and 9000 range, retailers are cleaning up their inventory as it were, so the 6000N now often retails for ridiculous discount prices. It hasa high quality circuitry, its own solid transformer and an excellent sabre 9018-dac for the money. It is truly excellent with many review awards. Its only downside is the Play Fi app, but the 6 presets do ease the pain somewhat…atb, Gerlach Sven

I had the AT lp120x, not bad, great sound when I upgraded to the microline stylus. Yet I later felt it too ‘plastic’ and hollow. There was noticeable hum when I listened via headphones with headphone amp, with usb power cord plugged into amp , a ground loop forming perhaps, or the hollow space meaning more interference? Now have the Pro-Ject essential 3 with an OM 20 stylus, noise free and great sounding. It looks elegant too.
