‘We are like the dirt on the hills’ coloniser guy can STFU. you’re dirt from a different hill, if you want to relate this to geology. So cringe to use a line saying Spanish colonisers have the same relationship to the land as indigenous people.

Where are photos of Crissy Field or he Main Post from the late 50's and through the early 90? That is a major gap from Jack the Ripper times to running around with cellphones ? What kind of transformation video is this?

Where are the Historical visuals of the way Crissy Field use to be? Not in 1900 or 2000, but 1960's ? Letterman Hospital, The PX the Commissary?

Hello, Presidio of San Francisco. Please consider giving us an update on how the Pacific Tree Frog project is going? And, more importantly -- would you be willing to make a video like this geared for those of us who are not professional biologists, let us know if we can reasonably aspire get these guys going in residential ponds???? I'm sure many of us Would really appreciate that!

Thank you for your research and presentation. My family heritage stems from the Chumas-Tong-va people. My father used to tell me he did not understand what "Justice for all" ment. He relayed the fact that at 10 years old he and his family were imprisoned due to his Japanese heritage 1942. Ironically, also family heritage of the Santa Barbara/Santa Ynez area. Our great great grandparents were born in Southern California/Native people. The U.S. Parks completed a documentary on the Japanese/American connection. Wasuke's Gold pocket watch. My dad served in the United States Army/Korea Police Action from the City of Azusa, California. Our great grandparents gave land to the community of Irwindale, California. Through my research, I've discovered that a Conquistador Felix Sebastián Albitre, was part of the early Mission development period. Thanks to well documented incidents of the actions of the United States Government, State of California.. Stories are discovered printed in local, Los Angeles area newspapers. Land had been granted to the Albitre family of which I share the Native heritage before the United States Government was ever interested in owning the land of Southern California. When I was born in Pomona, California. I was listed as Caucasian? Really. With ongoing family research I am learning more factual information. Regards and respect to your future research. Respectfully Raymond Chavira Hirota Alvarez.

My little sister was born at Letterman Hospital in 1986. I remember having to get shots there when I was a child as well. I was really scared, and ran away. Somehow I managed to lock myself into one of the pay phone booths in the lobby of Letterman. No one could get me out, until firefighters somehow managed to unlock the booth. I still had to get my shots. I still have great memories of fishing at Torpedo Wharf. Back in the mid 80’s my dad would catch salmon on that pier. I would be able to walk around and explore the Fort under the Golden Gate, Ft. Point. As a kindergartener and first grader, I did so much exploring in and around Baker Beach. Going underground and treasure hunting in the bunkers and cannon batteries. I remember my dad buying me the Original Nintendo at the PX, and the Burger King opening up on the hill behind it, as well as the new commissary opening up next to Chrissy Field (as well as the “old” commissary closing). I remember my mom and her best friend taking me to the Toy Store on base, well, maybe it was a store that sold toys, to buy me toys to help me feel better when I had Chicken Pox. Holy shit! So many memories as I type. Part II has already ended and I’m still going. I remember a hidden tree house that I would go to on The Weeknd’s, way behind South Baker Beach Housing. I was just a wee child, and I remember that tree house being 100 feet up. It was probably only 20 feet up. I remember when they built the brand new playground in South Baker Beach Housing. I remember leaving the park one day, and walking around the fence of the National Guard Armory that’s to the immediate west of Presidio. There were many trips to Ocean Beach, Serramonte Mall, Fisherman’s Wharf, Chinatown, Lands End, Golden Gate Park. My mom would walk me to Geary Street and when we passed Sea Cliff, I would always see those mansions and tell her “One day, I’ll be so rich, I will leave there mom, and buy you and dad the house across the street. Nothing else in San Francisco looks, smells, or feels like the Presidio. I miss it being a hustling, bustling tiny military town. I would go on and grow up, and even enlisted in the Marine Corps. The Presidio is the only base I have ever come across that don’t have a closed down base. There were no gates or gate guards. There were no walls and fences that separated San Francisco proper from The Presidio. Man… these videos are being back so many memories and are actually making me cry.

I lived in the Presidio when I was child from 1985 to 1989, before my dad was stationed in Fort Ord. I wish I was older, and I wouldn’t be able to take for granted living 100 yards from Baker Beach. I still visit the Presidio whenever I can.

If you allow people to catch and eat invasive fish it will be better... And rather than poisoning you can do electro fishing which you can selectively capture fish and native species won't die

Umm what? Nah, that stuff them fish eats has lots of zinc, lead & other metals and eating then with all the germs? Oh boi it can poison you much painful & slower than a quick death these fishes got hit with. Plus that lake is the last natural lake or one of the last natural lakes San Francisco got. Lake Merced? Yeah is different & you can fish there, Mountain Lake is a no fishing zone. You only see a tiny fishes & that's it.

I got my first Manzanita only this year, just a few months ago. Not long ago, I saw this video, how fascinating! Today, I found an example of the Franciscan to bring home. The Theodore Payne Foundation added them to their inventory this week, and I was elated when I found out they were in stock! This will make the tenth Manzanita I've planted. :D I think I have enough ... ><

At 00:8 of this video, those were the Barracks that I was stationed at in 1988. View from my room overlooked the entire Bay! Got lucky with that Assignment right out of basic training. Was there for a year before Germany. Are these the Tunnel Tops Area that your talking about. The main stuff was down at the Parades Grounds. We only had the Bowling Alley up at the Back of the Presidio. Glad I had the experience, they started to close down the Base like right after I left.

I love his playfulness. Large twisted Eucalyptus branches become firewood, go in the chipper, or get buried in a landfill. They also burn up in fire. And decompose! Most people are oblivious to the plants around them. A green lawn, a hedge, a generic tree, a palm tree, apple tree, rosebush, and some daffodils and petunias. And not to forget a fern. With all this computer-cyber world, does anybody dig a hole and get their hands acquainted with the soil?

San Francisco is 'about not always thinking the same way'? What a joke. If you don't think the 'correct' way you will be cancelled in SF. One of the Presidio Board Members has been removed from the Presdio's own website!

That, Goosefoot (Calif bee plant) and sticky monkey flower, were wiped there is astounding. They are so ubiquitous in the bay area. I cycle every Sunday up from Crissy Field past a ton of Goosefoot on my way to the bridge and have yet to meet one of these butterflies. I have seen some pipevine swallowtails I think. If there ever was a thing that people could do on a small scale to help nature as planting these native plants and bringing in caterpillars I sure can't think of it. Last Sunday I saw one Mission Blue on the Coastal Trail in the Marin Headlands, the color of the ocean when the sun is shining on it but small and quick moving. And lots of big black and blue Pipevine Swallowtail. And some kind of orangish checker butterfly that I didn't get to photograph and look up on inaturalist. Yes a great site. Photograph a plant and upload the pic there and see what they think it is. A free education in local botany.
