Just reading Etty Hillesum and thought of you and this song. Listening again to this brilliant angry woman, you. A voice that launched a thousand ships! Great.

🔥 DARKNESS 🔥 ON the rise I see darkness On the rise Governments officials and history books Full of lies Homeless laying in the streets No bed no pillows or tucked in sheets All across America I see money grabbers Said the thug to the thief I no longer see young kids out riding bikes Or in the warm spring wind flying kites Just children on their phones And most of them living in broken homes What will happen I’m afraid to see Now that no one believes That the bible holds the key 🔑 That the bible holds the key 🔑 DLT

From a 1960s psychedelic out - of - control teenager to a burned out bottom - of - the - barrel, soulless 20 year old Vietnam veteran then 28 years US Army Ranger, Special Forces, decades as a contractor in many many countries spanning 5 continents, I’m now in my late 70s and I still have the same reaction when hearing this performance; a flood of memories, stunned silence, tears, overwhelmed by deep internal sadness.

Really nice guitar work, and original, no imitation of Dylan not Hendrix or whatever. Very original. Only the singing wasn't very nice, specially in the first verse.

There must be some kind of way outta here Said the joker to the thief There's too much confusion I can't get no relief Business men, they drink my wine Plowmen dig my earth None will level on the line Nobody offered his word Hey, hey No reason to get excited The thief, he kindly spoke There are many here among us Who feel that life is but a joke But, uh, but you and I, we've been through that And this is not our fate So let us stop talkin' falsely now The hour's getting late, hey Hey All along the watchtower Princes kept the view While all the women came and went Barefoot servants, too Well, uh, outside in the cold distance A wildcat did growl Two riders were approaching And the wind began to howl, hey All along the watchtower All along the watchtower

Long Range Reconnaissance Patrols (LRRPS) of very young American soldiers realize, accept and understand the grim reality, their fate, no one, no help is on the way. American teenagers with one foot in their graves. Alone, out-numbered, out-gunned, fighting well-trained, experienced, hardened North Vietnamese soldiers in their homeland: living the final seconds of their lives….. All Along The Watchtower …… Nobody offered his word…. you and I, we've been through that… And this is not our fate…. So let us stop talking falsely now…. The hour's getting late …Two riders were approaching …..

It's good to see the younger generation sing old folk songs. This song was originally about the hardships after the Napoleonic wars 1885 , when the Rothschild captured the stock market and charge excessive interest rates to banks and governments, which caused the taxes to rise and inflation to massively increase.

WOW!!!! Never in my wildest dreams could I imagine any cover of this song could rival Hendrix's! Others have been close, but this one blew me away! "And if the man is coming for me, man I'm not here!"-----great improvisation that fits the song so well.

Julia Most People say I am a Pretty Tough Guy. I eat Rusty Nails and Gun Powder for Breakfast. I Can Strike a Wooden Match in the Palm of My Hand. It is Easier to Squeeze a Drop of Blood From a Brick than to Get a Tear out of Me. You got one in in Exactly 1 Minute with Your Performance of this Song. Your Version of this is Outstanding.
