Wait so you dont cut that extra you took in off?
@SewingatHomeMomКүн бұрын
No. It's a quick fix (that usually lasts as long as you need it). If for any reason you need that extra inch back in your waistband, all you'd have to do is cut the thread and pull it out.

You bet! With this method, the alteration isn't permanent as with the one you mentioned. Glad it worked for you!
@SteveHoover695 күн бұрын
How durable is this method? If I work construction will this last me?
@SewingatHomeMomКүн бұрын
Hard to tell. It's not a permanent fix for sure. But if done correctly it should last sometime. You might have to reapply new tape if one comes off - if you decide to use technique.

Hello, I tried the embroidery thread but it shredded and got tangled, please provide which brand of thread or how to prevent thread from tangled ? thx so much
@SewingatHomeMom15 күн бұрын
Try to pull the thread as you sew instead of just pulling at the end. Alternatively you can try to use waxed dental floss for sewing. Also, waxing the embroidery floss helps to prevent the thread from tangling. Hope this helps🙂

Will this xome out after washing ?
@SewingatHomeMom15 күн бұрын
If done well, it should last some time. BUT, It's not a permanent repair of the hole. Rather a quick fix, temporary fix. Eventually it will come out in wash partially or entirely.

Hi Alice, thank you so much for your video. I'm a man and many of us aren't skilled with a sewing machine. My question is the following: If the original pants, or the jeans, come with a straight cut on the leg, is it necessary to make the new measurement with a diagonal cut or fold? Shouldn't it be straight too? Excuse my ignorance.
@SewingatHomeMom26 күн бұрын
No. Usually, there is no need for diagonal cut regardless of the type of pants. But there are exceptions. As you can see in this tutorial, I pined front and back of the pants leg according to the type of shoes. Shoes are important when measuring for hem. Here I cut at diagonally to avoid extra unattractive puddle of fabric around the ankles. Hope this helps 🙂

Hi, tried to do the same as you. A hole in the middle of the shoulder seam. The result is a closed hole but the sides have creases. It can be noticed that a hole has been sealed. Any suggestions?
@SewingatHomeMom26 күн бұрын
Sorry, hard for me to suggest anything without seeing the problem... Probably I would try redoing it with smaller and tighter stitches and I would follow the original holes seam line to stay within the original seam allowance. Let me know how it went 🙂

Hey!...how do you deal with that little 5th pocket that jeans have? Do you cut out, work around it, etc? THANKS!!!
@SewingatHomeMom2 ай бұрын
I would work around it - if possible - but that's me. Usually there are few factors to consider beforehand, for example: by how many inches you need to decrease the waist, are you taking the waist in temporarily or permanently. How thick is the fabric that you're working on. How much the inside bulk of the excess fabric bothers you after you take the pants waist in - things like that. As you see, it REALLY depends on each piece.Hope this helps 🙂
