Late to the party but is there a how-to of that press-fit petcock setup? That’s a rad idea! Also wondering how it’s holding up?

All congratulations to this gentleman on some superb custom work; that sissy bar is something to turn into a personal emblem. The engine running at 7:07, and the riding shots were beautiful. Hoping very much that I'm fortunate enough to have a similar experience waiting for me this summer with my 1200 Sportster.

Really, how disrespectful riding through a graveyard. Really, tennis shoes, no gloves, no jacket but a full face helmet. I guess you will look good in your coffin.

Would you consider the Ironhead to be a good first bike? More over, a daily commuter if kept in good spec and maintained well by the rider? I'm looking for a machine that is cheap to buy and easy to fix, also a first bike.
@tobytwiss5 ай бұрын
I would get an evo 883 or 1200, the iron head is a great bike and can run trouble free if you keep up on maintenance. But, you sort of have to be a mechanic- I completely rebuilt that bike and put a modern carb on it. I’d suggest getting something a bit more modern for a commuter.
@VASHXKALIBER5 ай бұрын
@@tobytwiss Yup. I figured as much as I want an Ironhead, reality shows up and says hey points broke gotta fix 'em. The EVO motors are far more reliable, as I've heard and less troublesome.

Killer bike. Would like to know how you got the petcock in the carb. I've got the same oil tank but it keeps weeping from the fill tube. Was thinking I might need a cooler to help it out.
@tobytwiss11 ай бұрын
Thanks! It’s a normal 1/4 npt 90 deg with the threaded side turn down on a lathe. Then it was pressed into the carb where the brass 90 deg barb is normally pressed in. I put it there to keep everything tidy and also to be able to run two 90s out of each side of the tank instead of capping one with a petcock on the other.
