honestly, I can't hear any difference the 1176 or cl 1b makes, I could only notice a difference with the la-2a while wearing headphones 😅

Yeah I can believe that. Ive always said that specifically the UAD LA-2A collection has the most character when it comes to compressors. They did a really good job. The tube-tech you have to really dig into to get it to do its thing which is true for the hardware as well in my opinion!

Bought this plugin and compared it with my other 30 compressor plugins...it is softer in any sense, smoother, but not punchier or kicking like others. Would use it on single tracks that need smoothing, maybe rarely on a master or mixbus.

Yeah exactly that was my conclusion. Its definitely most useful on buss's!

What about the API 2500 or Manley Variable Mu Bus Compressors?? They have these Native and am undecided..
@RicardoTolbert26 күн бұрын
Both great can’t go wrong with either one. Manley is tube, 2500 is VCA. In my opinion the 2500 is more flexible but if you’re looking for more of a sound or big tone difference I’d go with the Manley.
@jrm_music722926 күн бұрын
@RicardoTolbert thanks! They have the 10 bundle for $349 and I got a $25 discount, but didn't want to get 2 compressors If I didn't need.. kinda leaning to the API but they are both good 👍🏼 as hearing from the demos!I already got the UAD Essentials bundle for only $49! ..API Vision, 2500, 1176 collection , Mini Moog, Ravel, Manley Passive EQ , Avalon VT-737, Ravel, Hitsville Reverb and D Chorus or just the Manley Var Mu maybe..idk If I wanted to get another Mix Bus Compressor if I didn't need.. I'm making Hiphop and dabbling in EDM..

I really like UAD plugins, but after using their Spark for almost a year, I'd say avoid it like a plague. They are notorious for crashing, even sometimes having to uninstall UA connect to jump start it again. If anyone's going to get into UAD, best bet is to just buy the plugins.

The Cambridge is a copy of the Sony Oxford console EQ and the subsequent Oxford plugin range that was available for ProTools and TC Powercore, then later on native. The plugins were spun off from Sony and are now sold as Sonnox. Take a look at the Oxford EQ and you'll see the immediate similarity. The Oxford EQ was arguably one of the first really good digital desk EQs.

Something I have learned is that LTL Silver Bullet with Mojo C on the Hitmaker 4000 can be used after the bx_console 4000 E to simulate the VCA output saturation that the earlier version of these consoles had. You should also try the Kiive and Fuse Audio Labs plugins.

I’m using an Avid Carbon, so I’m able to use HDX plugins. 90 percent of plugin alliance can be used in DSP mode and obviously the avid plugins. But I also have an M1 Pro chip so most of the time I never have to tap into HDX unless I’m tracking!

@RicardoTolbert2 ай бұрын
LOL You are all good over here! Everyone can have their opinions on my channel I am open to it!. I don't fully disagree with you though. I do think that it gives & has given opportunities to people to make more music BUT that means the quality is less or there is little to no time spent on the music which can result to poor output. It has its negatives and positives. But it is nice when I don't need to use it or record with it. There is a lot of magic when it comes to raw organic vocals!
@johnunkerman2 ай бұрын
@@RicardoTolbert thanks for not chewing me out. Every tool in music production has good and bad potential. Obviously autotune can be abused and overused. I don’t mind it when it’s used as an obvious effect. It’s when it’s used to misrepresent, deceive or cover up lack of vocal capabilities that it bugs me. Not everyone was meant to be a vocalist. Also I agree that sometimes it’s the organic imperfections which make the magic really happen on a recording. When it’s too sanitized and “perfect” something’s lost. But that’s my take as an older musician. Oh well, progress I suppose…

Using ProTools is putting you 15 years behind on production knowledge, you're basically limited to boomer production techniques from the mid 2000s. Try to imagine what kinda stuff someone who is innovating and redefining music is doing right now today. ProTools has nothing to do with that, that's something for obsolete dinosaurs to mix butt rock and autotune shawty songs on.
