Given todays cost for food, great haul boys. That will feed a lot of friends and family.

I never would’ve thought using a crab pot as a way to pick up fish from the bridge. That’s awesome. And using crab for bait like that! Are those Groupers

Its actually a pier net, but it does look like a crab pot. Its way heavier duty.

You had your drag wayyy too tight. That why your line snapped
@TheLawlessTide2 күн бұрын
I guess don't fish structure for monster fish much. You loosen your drag there and instead of catch 3 out of 4 forty pound fish you catch zero! My tight drag is why i was able to land 3 of them. If your drag is loose they go straight to the bridge piling and cut the line on it instantly.
@kelovebaby54722 күн бұрын
FYI! My biggest is 67lbs Blue Catfish. Your drag was too tight! That’s why it snapped!!! The only reason!
@TheLawlessTide2 күн бұрын
Ill take one snapped line fish and 3 catches over 4 fish that break your line on the pilings. Freshwater is a different world bud. Oranges and apples.

I didn't even know what a Yellowtail was when I first got to Key West & a local said Why ya throwing those fish back & I said they weren't big enough. He laughed at me b/c I was throwing 16" - 20" fish back in but I thought they were too little. After that the man came and bought fish from me 2-3 times a week. Yeah, you've got proper gear for each style of fishing you do & I grabbed the Aerated Live Bait cooler so I can build it. That's a good DIY build. peace man

When I was 12 I grew up outside of York Pa. Near my home was a smelly papermill town called Spring Grove. Back in the 70s believe it or not there were no cell phones or Google Earth. But what we did have is a local network of kids on bikes. The legend was that there was a bass pond filled with fish 5 feet long! But it was guarded by an old man who worked for the Gladfelter Papermill. But nobody actually knew where this pond was. As it goes with most urban legends there is a grain of truth in the story. So one day we’re were in the Rutters Farm store buying ice teas and trying to get a peek at the new Playboy Magazine when in walked a crew from the mill. My friend, Mark, asked about this pond and the one old guy said he knew where it was and drew a map for us. He did remind us that it was on the paper mills property and there was a fence around the house and pond. We immediately went home, got our fishing poles tackle box and Schwinn Stingrays loaded up. We followed the stone lane for what seemed to be miles. The gate was unlocked but closed. We rode in and after going past the “haunted house” we found the pond. It even had a rotted dock. We quickly got to fishing and immediately Mark got a hit. He pulled in this big old large mouth. We were stunned, it was TRUE! Suddenly we hear this “HEY ! Get OFF that dock!” Some old man in overalls was walking towards us. We had no where to run. Looks like we are going to jail. Or worse..Telling my dad. He said. “If you wanna fish do it over there, this dock is too dangerous . And are you hungry, my wife can make you peanut butter and jelly if you want.” Turned out he lived in the old “haunted”house and was the care taker of that property that belonged to Gladfelter papermill. He was super cool and his wife was very kind. He even threw our bikes in his pickup and dropped us off at home that evening. Mark and I never told anyone about our secret spot and we fished there every year, and ate PB&Js….

I remember I used to live in a community, with private ponds and we had an HOA. I used to fish the ponds in our community, and we had signs posted "Private Property - No Fishing". I had some lady pull up in her car, who I presume also lived in the community tell me "Can't you read?! No Fishing!"... and I responded back "Can't you comprehend?! Private property - I live here. Do you?!". She looked confused and just drove off.
