The special clip was genuinely skin crawling. It was so obnoxiously moffat in it's style . The hamfisted sexual innuendo, the treating the doctor as an idiot for a cheap laugh. Just the absolute worst aspects of his writing distilled into a couple of minutes.

Look at the red colour on Coughlan's palms when she makes that very contrived waving gesture in the presentation. The story seems to involve some kind of disease (Space Seed, not relation to Star Trek - please...) and this could indicate that her character becomes a carrier of a transmissible antidote. The dates are interesting. In 1940 Germany nearly won the war by bombardment of Britain, in 1953 the USSR got the nuclear bomb, 1962 was the year of the Cuban missile crisis. All to do with bombs.

Though makes significant lower income on new series merchandise than 'classic.' Research the maths. What RTDeluded with a classic villain, end of recent season was appalling and jarred with previous continuity. What has happened to him, scripts are appalling.

A monster known for having one good story that was basically just a rewrite of an earlier story with the Master in it, followed by appearances in two of the worst Doctor Who stories ever aired...Warriors of the Deep and Legend of the Sea Devils. This ain't the win any of the shills think it is. The Sea Devils are not blockbuster attractions. But let's see if RTD and Pete McTinge can make it work. I'm happy RTD has brought on one of the best writers of the Chibnall era to work on this, his Collection minisodes are the stuff of modern legend

The spinoffs might be great, but im very frustrated that the BBC is spending money on a spin off while the NUNBER ONE most common complaint about season 1 was "Not enough episodes!" I love expanding the universe. But if given the choice of a 6 episode spin-off, or 6 more episodes added on to the main season, i can tell you my choice in half of a millisecond.

I'm surprised they didn't go with the old Silurian look like they've done with the sea devils. But I guess the old look would be kinda goofy compared to the sea devil look

I agree with you on how spin-offs tend to work... (though I think there have been a few rare exceptions, I'm not sure, I am pretty sure, unless I'm mistaken, there are at least one or two series I've heard of that had spun off from a parent series and out-lived its parent series, actually becoming iconic in their own right, if not more so..., although usually in those cases the parent show, wasn't quite that iconic, to begin with, I guess).

I remember once I brought a teenage relative of mine a build your own robot kit, and upon opening it she was stoked "brilliant" until her eyes alighted upon the flash blurb "educational" and she huffed and said "ugh, it's educational" because that blurb is not there for kids; it's there for parents - it's to sell the toy to parents for whom "educational" is a selling point, but for kids it can be a dealbreaker, because that sounds like the opposite to fun - it means "it's good for you" rather than "you will enjoy it". I kind of got that vibe when he described the Sea Devils as being angry with humans because of the mess they have made of the oceans. Narratively this isn't even true; any more than Godzilla rises up because he is upset about the invention of the atom bomb - there is a connection there but Godzilla isn't coming to deliver a lecture and if he was he would have surfaced near Los Alomos than Hiroshima! The Sea Devils are only awake due to pollution (clearly not always true since some sea devils rise in earlier eras, but they do require a seismic triggering event that coild feasibly be an earthquake or meteor strike, it needn't be manmade. So rather than being angry they should be grateful. Present the sea devils as a consequence of pollution by all means (don't pitch that as a selling point though) but their global temperatures would have been hotter so they would hardly be likely to complain about the global warming. The reason they are peeved at humans should be because we dominate the planet they used to dominate. It's an argument over rightful ownership, not moral superiority. That is what makes the conflict between humans and the reptile people interesting is neither side is morally superior and yet neither side would be wholly comfortable with the compromise that would allow peace, and both think they have the better claim; it is pure politics without preachiness like Game of Thrones. How out of step with your audience do you have to be to include in your announcement the equivalent of the "educational toy" blurb? Who are they trying to sell it to? The potential audience or potential funders? Just like the "educational toy" blurb they are pitching to the paternal overseers rather than the audience. Rather than telling us how important and conscientious they are, shy not tell us why it is worth watching?

I'll be honest I'm just not bothered for this spinoff, I would like a spin off yes but not with this choice of story as a spin off, leaves me so uninterested. Besides would rather they sort out the main show problems, but considering series 2 (series 15) is done I think nothing will change, so I not to enthusiastic at the moment, been a let down after so much hype. As for the Christmas special, oh no that awful Silariuns, sorry bad redesign, I don't know we'll will see I suppose with Moffat can pull it off
