We didn’t have Sky TV in the 90’s so I had to listen to this on the radio. I can remember trying to tell who’d scored and who’d missed by the sound of the crowd before the commentators said anything. Beating Bolton 2-0 in the final at the old Wembley was one of the best days of my football-fan life.

what a night that was, the tension and pressure was literally unbearable. All I remember when Alec saved the penalty was being thrown about 3 rows in front of me and then being pulled up by a kind gent who simply said 'have we won then?'. The anxiety was so much I had a panic attack on the way home and nearly stacked the car on the M6.

God this brings back memories, I remember watching as a 13 year old lad thinking I hoped Watford won it because I didn't back us to beat Birmingham at Wembley... well that theory went well didn't it!

Great memories, loved that, thanks. It was agony watching from the Watford end - every penalty looked like it was missing. I jumped up and down so hard when we won that I lost my wallet. Certainly the best away game in my life to date.

I was listening to this on the radio at the time, so couldn't see anything... which made it about 2 times as tense! What a night.
