She is the only female player I've ever heard that can play this song with authority, and, as she says in the beginning, with the funk, force, and groove the song needs. There's nothing dainty or mannered about the way she plays it-she can hold her own with any male player.

I have his VHS Tape from Homespun when it came out in the 90’s. It’s like brand new. He is outstanding. If you didn’t know he tuned down it would drive you crazy trying to do that. His double stops are so different than others you know exactly who it is in 2 seconds when he starts without seeing him and yes he is so underrated

Is there a version of him playing this, you know on a good guitar in high quality, without the lesson? Just the tune? Not the original with the band, this sounds better. Cheers.

I love Earl and JD. I respect Bela. But Ralph is my all time favorite banjo player. His sound moves me. It just sounds more raw and closer to the mountains than the concert hall. And oh my goodness, his singing..just phenomenal!

Darling, you are playing a song called Flying South by Jerry Reed. Well you are playing half of it. Chet plays the other part. I accidentally rewrote a song of his myself, so I know from where I speak. kzfaq.info/get/bejne/ZrGlhrR73ZzalY0.htmlsi=cxaGsO-f03M3YGTs I believe you will find it very familiar. And wait until you come across all the harmonics. You will love it.

John is doing his solo arrangement to comp for the lack of the band. Songs also evolve over time, and this is an example of that.

A little comedy to begin ...Reminded me of Arlo Guthrie,. Damn ... Last I saw of him eas so,eone pieted jim and Heorge Clooney in a drro with a lid running around with a droopy diaper and yhey looked stonned. Can you imagine the hits Arlo might get hiving ragtime instruction. Personally, your damn good. For some reason people today find no comedy in the Alices Restaurant song.
