Thanks for the videos. Word of caution: Dirac’s resultant curve is a loose prediction based on what it “knows” about your room-which isn’t a lot. Measuring actual room response post calibration with REW often differs quite a lot from what Dirac predicts. Unfortunately, Dirac’s resultant curve isn’t a reliable guide for what your crossover changes are doing to your room response. The best thing I have found to do is trial/error the crossover in Dirac then measure with REW. I get much deeper, much more even bass doing that than following Dirac’s prediction.

While somewhat true, it is FAR more accurate in some versions vs others. I use 3.4.4 and it's spot on comparing results in REW to a single measurement point.

With a power conditioner it is not just about sound.I have a Panamax 5400 PM and when power is connected or there is an outage the outlets engage one at a time instead of all power on with a power strip.

@@COGuyStuff Thanks. I have that on hand but it does not really explain how to go about time aligning them as a process i.e. does one turn off audy and then use the farthest sub with no delays to align to crowsons and then use that delay to adjust all other subs and speakers? etc

Thanks a lot for your video. Before purchasing the RAM I verified that the original module is @1866Mhz (PC3-14900), while the one you choose is @1600Mhz (PC3-12800).Can you confirm that this does not affect the performance/compatibility? I found another kit @1866, still from crucial: CT2K8G3S186DM, it says Mac compatible, but the timing, speed and type are the same except for the speed. What do you think about.

Thanks mate, used this method to do cables for my 5.1 theatre setup. Pretty much same gauge amazon cable, same sheath/loom, plugs and shrink tube. The only different thing I did was to use a small amount of clear sticky tape wound around the sheath and cable to stop the ends from fraying as I slid the Y pants on. Was having a bugger of a time before that.

I also gave this a try yesterday and i can hear a clear difference but cant say i like it better. I watched Edge of Tomorrow with it today and it sounds just like i’m cupping my ears. Its a very similar effect. I can make the effect go in and out by rocking forward 10-12 inches. It’s pretty wild. Im going to run it again but be 2-3” back. So more of a 5” from headrest then apply the 8” rule. But yeah its very similar to cupping my ears as if you do when youre trying to better hear whats in front of you. Thats the best way i can explain it. Thanks for the inspiration to try new ways to calibrate

Yep. Did the same to my cans. Those dang "safety" spouts are impossible to use and actually end up wasting fuel and make a mess if you're fiddling around trying to get it to pour. It's much simpler to literally just pour gasoline into your machine or car with a normal spout.

Thanks for sharing your findings, CO Guy. Question: when you take the measurement 8" directly in front of measurement #1, which circle are you marking/selecting in the software to indicate where you are measuring? There is a front right and front left circle, but not a "front middle" option. I understand where to put the mic for that measurement, I'm confused about what circle to select for that measurement. Hope this makes sense.

I have two PB12 NSDs (not coupled) in my system, and I cannot imagine ever needing to "upgrade." Even using just one of them is really good. There is, for every category of audio component, a point of diminishing returns where the performance-for-the-money curve drops off sharply. For me, the PB12 NSD is right on the peak of that curve.
@COGuyStuff
@COGuyStuff Ай бұрын
I hope you never hear a really good system ;). The nsd were. Great value back in the day. But the limits are far, far below pretty much anything else these days. One day you might want to do things you simply can’t now. Like pressurize the room. Or extend to sub sonic. Or play at reference level etc.
@rangersmith4652
@rangersmith4652 Ай бұрын
@@COGuyStuff I have heard some really good systems, and I have no need to try to match them. My listening room is 17x19 with 9' ceilings, so not huge by any means. I play mostly classical music -- at an SPL that won't wake the sleeping baby next door. That's why I prefer sealed subs. That said, I have a "budget" ported sub in my living room and one in my gaming setup; they make sense for cinema and video games and sound good enough when played at sane levels. I hope the new sub has worked out for you.

So where or which sud out of the processor did you use to connect you minidsp to. I’m using rca but can’t get the sound out of the sub1 rca out (red one), or should I be using the (black) sub2 out?
@COGuyStuff
@COGuyStuff Ай бұрын
It doesn’t matter they’re both the same signal. Make sure you go in the web interface under speaker types, and select your appropriate configuration. The one just labeled subwoofer is the RCA sub/sub to output. If it’s set to none, you won’t have any sound, I have multiple so I happen to be using channels 15 and 16 for my subs
