I've asked a few different folks and I still haven't got a good answer. Doesn't the dyno affect how the engine performs. If you put a cam with a lot of overlap in a heavy car with a high gear it will perform differently than in a light car with lower gearing. I saw a 327 that would barely pull an El Camino with 3.08s around set a Camaro w/ 4.10s on fire. I don't think you would load a 455 and an F1 motor the same, so how do you determine how much drag?
@NoTop442
@NoTop442 Ай бұрын
I'm uncertain about the load procedure. However, I recall the individual operating the dyno in the video explaining that a dyno's readings can read whatever you want. He mentioned he had an "honest" setup. The numbers on our engine are more real. For example, his competitor's dyno would read higher numbers than what we got. It's all in the calibration which I'm sure can be manipulated. How the drag would be determined maybe an engineer can comment. The dyno just shows you where your powerband is. Now you must setup the driveline (rear end gear etc.) to match. When we had our torque converter for the trans built by Coan, he wanted the dyno sheet so he could build it for the powerband. He was spot on. The car runs and launches super sweet. I've been wanting to put an M22 "Rock Crusher" 4-speed in the car but just can't bring myself to pull the excellent trans combo that the car has now. Middle of this video is a good explanation of calibration: kzfaq.info/get/bejne/nZuKntWUqd-0iZs.htmlsi=a_xQZstJUDg-PHOK

I have never adjusted the APT on one of those carbs. I always got my Rochester carbs to behave without it. Now that I have an exhaust analyzer, I may look into that for a deeper dive on my carbs. I suppose there may have been some APTs froze up over the years and I'm compensating in other ways.

for the timer, can it shut off a zone when the time is up?
@NoTop442
@NoTop442 4 ай бұрын
There is a timer for each burner. If you set the timer on the burner being used, it will beep when there is a minute left and then automatically set the burner to level one when the time is up. The burner will not automatically turn off while there is a pan on it. Once the pan is removed, the burner automatically turns off after a short period of time. You can physically turn the burner to zero at any time.

If, instead of this the shade in this video, you have a "flat" roller shade with a continuous, beaded-and broken-loop, I can help. I'm not talking about an according shade like in this video. Instead, think a "big rolling pin with a long rectangular fabric wrapped around it" shade. Anyway. If you're wondering how in the world to get a separated continuous loop chain (the kind with little beads lacing the entire length), this video helped me unlock the mystery. (Thank you @NoTop442). 1. Take the roller shade down. (I can't remember how, but you essentially spin a plastic retainer on the non-sprocket side so it "releases" the large plastic captured barrel pin so it can compress.) 1.5 Set your shade down. Keep it rolled up. 2. Position the open mouth where the chain went upwards (you'll see the tiny teeth/sprocket mechanism). 3. Hold the big rolling pin side (shade side) really tight with your one hand. 4. Feed the tip of your chain into a side of it. You'll figure out in the next step which is the correct side through a little trial/error. 5. Now "force" the black mouth to spin around the held-in-place shade side with your other hand. This will feel wrong. But you must have faith. And you must have clamp hands to do this. Gloves might help. Or if you're a lobster. Note that the black "mouth" piece can only spin one way. Mine spun clockwise, but yours might go the other way depending on what side it's on. This action "threads" the chain around the sprocket. Now you have to somehow mend your chain back together with pliers, jb weld, a TIG welder, or a prayer to the God of Thunder, Zeus. Not sure which of these will be most effective. But have faith in yourself. If Elon Musk can land rockets backwards within 3 feet of some crosshairs on the ground, you too can fix your broken roller shade chain. Pray for me. UPDATE: I might be a genius. Or a blacksmith. Or both. You're probably wondering, "Christian, how did you reconnect the chain so it's a continuous loop again?" I shall answer your request, medically and mechanically. -1. Locate the unhealthy female bead on the end of the chain. 0. Hold the _next_ healthy, adjoining bead tight with some lineman pliers or the like. 1. Spread the unhealthy female bead's orifice open a tad bit more than it's currently dilated state with a mini awl (think metal stabber). PS: This widening is what lead to the failure in the first place when apparently I put too much force on the chain. 2. Insert the male ball tip into the female bead. Pass the forceps please. (Seriously forceps would be perfect here. But I had the dexterity to do it bare handed. Remember: I'm a professional.) 3. Once inserted, balance the whole structure so the male doesn't slip out. He can only last so long. (I had to). Recall that you're still holding the healthy bead with lineman pliers or the like. 4. Now in your other hand grab some needle nose and clamp the tired female shut, closing the tiny seam on the side of the bead. Here comes the magic that mere pedestrians would never think of. Surely not you. But I'm a blacksmith. And possibly a god. See metal "remembers." And that poor, weary female bead has memory to "stay" open, even though you're currently clamping her down with some needle nose. How do we make metal stop remembering? Heat. Keep clamping the broken female with your needle nose. Now you can let go of your lineman pliers. Switch to a lighter, or a mapp gas plumbing torch if you're as incredible as me. (You probably never will be. Sorry. It's a gift.) Heat that female/male combo up. Make her forget the pain of her unhealthy state. Make her one again with her partner. A union of foreverness if you will. Once done, a quick oil quench with some olive oil or motor oil or just use water like a hack. It's really up to if you want to be mediocre, or a human speciman. Congrats. You have successfully mended a chain. And a broken marriage. If you enjoyed this tome, please let me know with a reply comment stating your experience with my expertly crafted instructions. I think I spent more time writing this than the actual fix.

Hi, I am thinking of buying the 30" range, do you know if the coil is squared or round and how evenly have they spread it inside the perimeter of each burner?
@NoTop442
@NoTop442 9 ай бұрын
There really isn't a coil underneath. The areas of the cooktop that have potential for heating are inside the square areas on the glass. The shape of your conductive pan dictates the shape of the heating. These cooktops require cookware that are rated for induction use. Bringing a pot to a boil is amazingly fast with these cooktops. Very quick heat control similar to the gas unit we used to have. We found this explanation on the internet, hope it's helpful for you: When you turn your cooktop on, a current begins to flow through a copper coil under the ceramic glass, creating a magnetic field around it. When an induction compatible pot is placed on the cooktop, the magnetic field creates electrical currents inside the pan, turning the cookware into a “heater.” One of the most significant benefits of this type of electric cooktop is that it produces a rapid rise and fall in temperature. So not only will food and water come to temperature quickly, the cooktop cools off rapidly when the pan is removed from the surface.
@nikm3r
@nikm3r 9 ай бұрын
@@NoTop442 I know how induction works very well, this is why I'm asking about the copper coil that even your answer includes, some induction stove tops have just a small coil instead of covering most of the area of the "burner", even in some high end ones I've tested, the problem is I can't go test the wolf one, which is why I'm looking for someone who has used one.
@NoTop442
@NoTop442 9 ай бұрын
We're not really sure how to test the extents or shape of the coils. There are no visual cues that we can see either. I'm sure the manufacturer could shed some light on those parameters.
@naranjojo
@naranjojo Ай бұрын
In the cooktop shown in the video, the two bridge coils on the left are shaped like slightly chamfered rectangles and the other two coils are circular. You can find parts diagrams and service manuals, illustarting the coil shapes, online through Wolf. Therefore, when you bridge for a long rectangular griddle, you won't get two hot spots.
