The TCL QM851G 85" is priced at $2999, while the Hisense U8N 85" is priced at $2199. The Hisense TV seems like a very good deal.

U8N sounded much better on movie soundtracks than the QM8 and all others in the test here. On music, none of them...but a little bit better, the same U8N.

This TV is encountering major HDMI problems. Check AVSForums, Google Reviews, LG Reviews, AV Forums, Reddit, etc. Buyer beware. It would be worth doing a video update deep diving into the problem. LG has not issued a fix, no OTA in sight, no public acknowledgement whatsoever.

How many dimming zones this QM8 65" model has. And what is max brightness level also? Cant find this info on TCL site, only for C855 has these specs on site, wich is strange.

Mr. FOMO, another great review. Thanks for including some off angle viewing analysis. I'm looking forward to your QM851 vs. SONY comparison, especially in the area of the processing of low bit rate sports content. What's amazing to think about is that if your source is 720p, which is cable or most streaming services, you get enough data for 900k pixels. If you have a 4K TV, it has 8.3M pixels. The TV has to figure out how to fill the screen based on only 1/9th of the data.

Great comparison! I know I shouldn't complain but would have be nice if you could have tested the 85" model. The bigger the models get, the easier you can spot the shortcomings imo

Hello fomo. I commented earlier in the year about waiting till the shootout for oled comparison later this year before I choose which oled to buy. .while I'm still probably gonna wait to buy my next tv . I have recently been looking into mini led and watched this video and many others since. I'm curious how this tv does compared to the lg g4 .u8n and hopefully brava 7 with physical media..I'm a huge gamer on my ps5 and I also love watching movies and tv shows. But I own a lot of4k bluray , blurays and DVDS. I'm curious how these perform with physical media. . Sorry for the long comment hope you can shed some light on this subject . . I know dvds might be out of date to some. But I'd like to see how it does , And what tv do you recommend for the best quality bluray and dvd /lower quality video watching . Any brand

Great video. So the question is should l go 98 inch Qm8 (2024) or 85 inch Bravia 9? I assume by Black Friday they will be about the same price. Im leaning towards the 98 inch QM8 because l believe it will be close enough to the Bravia 9 and the immersion of a 98 inch tv will have more impact (to family and friends) than the slightly better image quality of the Bravia 9.

I can't wait to see how the 2024 QM8 will stack up against the new to come Hisense U9N coming out later this summer, with up to 5,300 local dimming zones and 4000 nits brightness! It will cost $4K at first, but will later drop in price and will include Hi-View Engine X picture processing!

Thanks FOMO! Can you do a comparison on how the older OLED's hold up over time. I still have a 55" LG B7 and it looks very good and still looks bright enough, it's in our bedroom now, and we have the brightness at 50. The older OLED's do have a touch of image retention, which is annoying, but it does go away. It is noticeable and its annoying, not annoying enough to upgrade (not even close). Have a C2 83" and that is a very bright TV with almost every issue fixed, except LG decided to remove DTS not the C2.

Can’t wait for the 2024 Hisense UX models to come out, want the 110 inch but budget may only allow for the 98 inch. The U8N held up amazingly well against these 2024 sets (aside from the black crush which is a big deal to me). If Hisense can fix that for the UX model then I’m sold.

It's hard for me to understand how a professional reviewer could be surprised by the fact that the QM8 better specular highlights then the S95D or G4. We are talking about mini LED versus OLED.... How exactly did this surprise you? Were you expecting?
@TheMailerDaemonLives
@TheMailerDaemonLives 2 күн бұрын
Up till now, specular highlights would often be dimmed on darker backgrounds to mitigate blooming. What appears to be happening these days is keeping up the brightness of the highlights on dark without dropping brightness too much.
@armylrs2391
@armylrs2391 2 күн бұрын
@@TheMailerDaemonLives absolutely true but specular highlights have always been much brighter on mini LED, QLED and even some standard LCD. This is almost without exception once you get into mid-range or high end LCD tech panels. Not only this, but the whole brightness scale is vastly more stable. HDR on OLED tech vs mini LED/QLED might as well be considered a completely different format altogether. The difference in presentation is night and day.

I ended up getting an LG C3 with 5-year warranty for about $2,000 and I must say though I said I was going to keep my LG C1 till 2026 the LG C3 is an absolutely awesome TV and does HDR and brightness so much better. Sitting here watching and seeing things pop the way they do and how clean and Clean regular SDR picture is and even old-school movies even streaming looks good and don't get me started on 4K Blu-ray. Just the LG C3 hits different. I am absolutely 100% glad I made the decision to pull the trigger and get the LG C3

your qm951 tcl is the 2023 flagship, not the 2024 - you're wrong, the 2024 tcl flagship is the qm952 or x965 or x11h, with 10000 zones, and 6500 nits of brightness with the new TSR image processor, already available in China and soon to be available in the world
