The old style machines have higher denomination. That’s why they have higher rtp. Most new machines are penny denomination, lower payout. And they still have pay lines, just many more of them. Frequent line hits but many times are disguised losses because they are less than your bet. Winning 50 cents on a $1 bet is still a net 50 cent loss. There are reel ways games as mentioned. Games like Buffalo Gold. They do pay left to right regardless of where the symbols land on the screen.

@@ReeldealRI on a $5 minimum table, write down 1, 2, 3, 4 Always add the first & last number to bet, & remove them if you win. If you lose, write that number. The house must now beat you 2 out of 3, which won't happen in the long term, if you play correctly. Not a great explanation, but you get the idea.

@@ReeldealRI with any strategy, the biggest mistake is staying at a losing table, chasing losses With this strategy, I've lost twelve 50/50 odds bets in a row, took a break, regrouped and wrote my losses down into 4 numbers again ( say, 10, 20, 30, 40, if you had lost a hundred - write down 6 or 8 numbers if you've hit disastor) Betting bigger, be more selective & find a winning spot. IN THE LONG RUN, with good bankroll management, you will win.
