The Foundation is universally acknowledged as the first mixed-race band in England. One of the founders, Arthur Brown, is a true visionary. In the 60s bands on tv/radio featured clean cut young men in suits. In Brown's 1968 video "Fire," the stick-thin straggly haired man dances wildly wearing a flaming horned crown. The man invented heavy metal performance art. Check out Iggy Pop's "Passenger," Brown's influence is undeniable. Music builds on its history, the guitars on Pop's song sound exactly like Green Day. Trippy.

Recommendation: Lauren on bgt performing 'You say'. I don't know what your connection to Tolkien is if any but 'Into the West' by any Lenox can make you tear up, especially when you know the books.

I just discovered this reaction and I’ve listened to it twice. I love this album so much, so thanks for reacting to it. I totally agree with you about not putting themselves in a box or being only one thing for us. I love them branching out. I saw them in Paris in May last year and they did a group medley of some of this album and also a short Mitch solo spot of his parts. I would pay to go and see a concert of just these songs. I love this album so much. I still listen to it very frequently in 2024!!!💜💜
