Great video, a reasonable 8 minutes instead of 45 like so many vids on youtube. Gets straight to the point and mentions both basic an advanced. Thought the channel had 1 million subs. Keep up the great work. With sea of thieves coming to ps5 soon. Many new players like myself are looking for vids like this.

You can bury it in the session you're in and dig it up later, yea. You can't, however, bury it and leave to a new session and do it

@CopiousJack I appreciate the speedy response! I notice when I play with friends or randoms that they have a hard time getting/keeping angle. I know good coms are the best way to be an effective team but I'm wondering how it would look in different situations from the helmsmans pov to know when the cannoner has/needs a better angle. My buddy I ply with often has issues with rights and lefts so coms aren't exactly a good way for us to be efficient.

I can definitely say that being the helmsman is the hardest job and is effectively the captain of your ship. Ultimately, what this means is what they say goes. Whatever happens can be debated afterward. However, everyone must be and stay in sync with the helmsman rule in order for healthy synergy. Mutinous debates during an altercation as opposed to being discussed after add uneeded cross talk and confusion that ensures problematic circumstances to occur; whereas support (even if you disagree) may leave you surprised due to healthy teamwork. The motto I go by is: what did we do right? What did we do wrong? And what was bs 😂. But, it could definitely be fun to expand on for sure!

The pvp and pve community has always been in contention, unfortunately. Many pvpers in the SoT community developed some unwritten rules (as did i) when it came to engaging other ships. Generally, you can tell if someone is new, and it's always been my policy not to dissuade newcomers from learning the game; though, whether pvers like it or not the pvp is still in the game and there to stay so it's always been my advice to keep an open mind to learning at least a few tricks for survival or risk having a bad time anytime you play 😔

@CopiousJack you know fair, not all encounters with pvp pros are entirely negative ya they tske my shit but it's apart of the game. Its the people who just spawn kill untill you decide to quit, and send messages after the fact telling you how shit you are that really stand out and leave a bad taste in my mouth (which on console atleast happens often). I cant tell you how many times I get invited to a party or a group chat Inv expecting some.sort of decency like "ya we sunk you and ruined you voyage but gg we respect your fruitless attempt at a defense" But no I get " OH YA TAKE THAT. HOW DO YOU LIKE THAT? MMMMMMM FUCKING TAKE IT." It leaves me wonder who hurt you?

Idk why, but ppl don't put it together. But fire and a venom ball. Can change a fight. Or a sleep ball with fire is good too. Grant it it's more situational. But can come in handy..

I had my first pvp encounter today I took out two skeleton sloops and than I got jumped by a skeleton galloon and than another guy decided to fight me I was super low on wood and cannonballs so I rammed the other players sloop in the side and jumped on his ship and he killed me but I was able to respawn fast and keep my crippled sloop from sinking I think the skeleton galloon finished the other guy off because his loot was floating on the sea and was barely able to sink the galloon I'm pretty sure the other guy put some good holes in the skeleton galloon but I was able to collect all the loot and drag my crippled butt to port and sold it all and now I'm super close to buying my sloop ship. I did have one fire bomb left so I lit my sloop on fire and sent it off viking furnal style and log off to go to work.

I’ve been taking on some skeleton ships and I’ve been in all sorts of situations. I try to place myself behind them or in front of them so they don’t have cannons on me, but then they just turn and I end up in an even poorer place, or even ramming into me. Finding out what to correctly do in those situations is the hard part for me

Fire on the top deck where their canons are goes a long way in managingthe skeletons; or blunder bombing the front and back of their ship to shift their direction if you need a moment to breathe never hurts either. Also, if you aren't solo slooping, you can have your buddy hop on the skele boat to manage the skeletons and relieve the pressure on your ship; enabling you to pummel them freely. Worst case, you always have cursed cannonballs to make short work of them 🙂

I don't generally recommend it, more for people who like to troll or who care less 🤣. But with a crew to look after the ship, it's not always the absolute worst idea; especially if you have a boarder who can lock down the enemy ship or if you've found yourself in a naval fight stalemate far longer than intended. But, at the end of the day, you apply what you have the most confidence in and feel your best at and avoid risking what you can't or won't afford to lose 👍

I took a break from SoT when they "fixed" the respawn time. When word got around it was like I ONLY encountered galleys on every server. Looks like its time to unfurl my sails again. Thanks for the update video Jack!

Hey man I feel it, we've all taken a break now and again. To be honest, I bet it still gets tweaked with my theory being they will scale respawn timers relative to ship sizes for balance

0 information was given in this video, just genral thought what and how to do things but 0 actual examples or tips, like: your HP is low next time watch your HP bar and try to prevent it. thats not an advice. this title of a video was a clickbait. Even the guy says how to position your ship to survive the battle and didnt mention anything just basic knowledge for pepole who first logged into a game...

came here because i just got sunk the second day in a row, both tryna do fotd, 1 ten hour session and another 12 hour with next to nothing to show for it, it feels almost unfair as i can sink some ships with ease and then some crew just way out of my league rocks up and i dont have a chance. This game can be frustrating sometimes huh

There's no doubt about it; the game can definitely get frustrating. Sea of Thieves is easy to learn but hard to master. If you get too comfortable and let your guard down eventually someone's going to notice and take advantage. It never feels good to invest that much into something that someone else gets the benefit of, but you never lose entirely since it is always a teachable moment. Just remember to always be mindful of someone else wanting what you yourself know to be valuable; especially if you're doing one of the single most profitable events that gets announced to the entire server.

Honestly that's a good question. Given that each company has its own cosmetics I'm betting each cosmetic will be "cheap" (not dark adventurer level) and anything that would make it expensive would be tied to the volume of possible items rather than each item costing an arm and a leg

If you're on a sloop, and really know what you're doing, you can keep kegs on the ship, but it is an added risk. As far as I know, sloops are the only ship this is viable on.

At the end of the day everything is circumstantial. If you choose to that's fine, just always be in the habit of staying aware of the risk so you can avoid as much fallout as possible. Keep in mind with the small area of a sloop it becomes increasingly more likely that any keg that blows up on it will disable it. Having only 1 mast, especially if you're solo that can be devastating. So, as far as guide's go, starting out cautious and avoiding placing them on your ship until you're more experienced I find to be the best of available options

@@CopiousJack if u 2 are not aware kegs are relatively viable on galleons. if you put the kegs on the nose of your ship the kegs cause no damage to you if shot and blown up. it will only catch the nose on fire. you have 4 people to defend the ship from boarders so assuming u aren't all bad at head on combat u have good protection against most boarding situations. the Shockwave will take away ur momentum. but theoretically u could use that to ur advantage. and since it's on the nose if u see a boarder going for it. just shoot the keg boarders dead and u take no damage. also good if u like ram plays if the kegs collide with a ship they explode so gives u that explosive ram which is always fun.

Oh yea, that's been in the game and known for a long time. My point regarding kegs was added strictly due to the fact that most people looking up combat guides I imagine will be newer to the game and perhaps even pvp. So I generally don't see keg plays at entry level strategy for beginners learning combat 😋

Naval and cursed cannons especially are the most reliable win conditions for solo players. I've had frustrated galleons with well experienced crews face me, but because I had good naval abilities and a well placed ballast ball and rigging ball, they were soon sharing grog with the ferryman. The hardest ship to face as a solo would be a brigantine, which should be stated is the most OP ship type in the game by far right now and should get some nerfs. It's raw speed and reckless nature means that even bad crews can get the jump on you and put constant boarding pressure. And all it takes is one death for a brig crew to whip around since they are quite maneuverable and poise themselves for the sink. So carry blunder-bombs for them since they act as boarding defence as well as a viable way to knock them off the brigantines small frame with shallow railing. And chain shots are even more important here than on a galleon. Galleons are easy to naval against with curse balls, but brigs will absolutely stomp you if you aren't putting pressure on their sails because they have huge speed advantages on you and can keep in a turn with a sloop for just enough time to knock your mast and send a boarding party. Last thing to note here but green curse balls have an AOE when they hit, so on larger ships like galleons don't use green curses unless you know for sure the area you are aiming for has players there. Green balls are better reserved for bigs and sloops since those ships are much easier to manage and keep afloat and thus stunning those crews with green balls is more important to securing a sink than on a galleon where purple balls and naval prowess can get the job done.

Brigantine is def hardest to sink as a solo or duo sloop. Galleon being the second hardest, and only because it takes fcking forever to fill up with water especially if there is heavy waves and you don’t know if yo hitting lower decks. But for some reason i prefer facing them as a duo rather than sweat sloops or brigs. A skilled duo or trio is always hard to defeat.

Definitely viable for experienced players for sure. Mind you it's still a huge risk since you leave your boat and you're 1 lifing; especially with the hit reg. It's definitely fun to do but what you CAN do vs what you SHOULD otherwise consider should always be measured. If no one is left to look after your boat it's very punishable
