Great video! Must've been a looooong training session. You can see Daxton literally grew up in it.

Great description and progression through knee drops. I try to get my kids working on these but this video helps provide me some methods to progressively advance them. Thanks!

Should I loosen the top of my skates to help create good angle?

Thank you Coach Kim. Your videos are so helpful. Would be great if you could do a video of a skating routine that would hit all important things: inside edge outside ….. that we could do just before the game in the warmup 5 mins before the game in order to be ready. Thanks from Canada !

Thank you! Ya we could make a pre game warmup video for sure

Can ask a question here, I struggle with drill... is it possible it's something to do with my profile on my blades. Litterly I only have the factory set profile only.

I’m not sure but I’ve never gotten my skates profiled either

I’m 54 and in a beer league. Started skating at 30 w no formal instruction ever, but I’m always trying to improve my game as much as possible. This video was short, sweet, and focused on some fundamental basics perhaps as good as I’ve seen anywhere else. Well done and thank you.

Hi coach what’s the importance of toes pointing down on ice? Thanks
@EliteSkating_HockeyDevelopment6 ай бұрын
Over exaggerating the foot when it goes over we see a lot of students go heel down in the crossover instead of toe down
@alexbigwata26386 ай бұрын
actually the wrong way is the good way . use both legs to push . You r welcome
@EliteSkating_HockeyDevelopment6 ай бұрын
We still use both legs to push the front leg does a c cut and keeps you stable while staying on the ice
@alexbigwata26386 ай бұрын
@@EliteSkating_HockeyDevelopment need to c-cut and also backward c-cut and shift more weight . work on stability if you have to keep one skate on the ice at all time to stay stable .

How about going in a circle backwards and forwards only on your outside edge?

I think these can be viewed as a speed enhancing drill because the better your balance and the better your edges, the faster you can go. There’s lots going on in these drills and it would be great to explain them further.

What exercises help with opening the hip? I physicaly can not open it like that, so i am constantly draging the hind foot and that always turns me around.

It sounds like it’s a flexibility thing for you. Do lots of hips stretches and do the thing I did at the wall in this video

question...i can't seem to slide my bottom hand on the stick while stick handling...my bottom hand keeps getting stuck when i try to slide it,,..is it my hockey gloves that's giving me the problem or am i just not doing it right...but i seem to be able to slide my bottom hand on the stick when i'm not using the puck at all.... how can i learn to do this...what am i doing wrong? or is it my hockey gloves
@EliteSkating_HockeyDevelopment6 ай бұрын
Hard to say but make sure you take pressure off your bottom hand when you slide it. You should be able to slide the hand freely
@andersborum92676 ай бұрын
@@EliteSkating_HockeyDevelopmentworn out gloves can become very sticky or tend to provide more resistance on the stick. Also, some sticks are ridiculously sticky which can make it much harder to get soft drags on the lower hand.

Thank you for this, I think I've been so preoccupied with learning punch turns, I have a tendency to rely on them rather than tight turns. I would say, whenever I see this videos for tight turns, they're always demonstrated with so little speed so as to show form. But it would be good to see them demonstrated at high speed as well, so as to see the technique in actual action

As I'm learning (practicing) the tight turns, I always feel like my outside foot is doing 90% of the edge work. Any tips on getting the inside foot to take more of the load? Are both feet riding more or less center of the blade, or is one or the other more heel or toe? Trying to work out the mechanics better so my practicing is more effective.
@EliteSkating_HockeyDevelopment8 ай бұрын
For tight turns you want to be more over the inside foot (outside edge) trusting that foot with a lot of the weight. What I usually tell my students is pretend your doing a one foot outside edge hold then just put your other foot down but don’t change your body position at all. In terms of what part of your skate definitely try to ride mid of the blade don’t be on your heels as that will lift the front part of your blade off the ice .Hopefully that make sense! Thanks for watching

all good except his should and back being straight. you need the forward lean.
@EliteSkating_HockeyDevelopment8 ай бұрын
Ya the lower you get you can lean forward more but shoulders shouldn’t go past your toes
@andreyru92216 ай бұрын
At higher speed the push should be strictly perpendicular to your moving direction, otherwise not efficient. Otherwise your pushing point gets too far behind very fast to have an efficient push.
