Beyond precious, this interview is a Last Will & Testament from an intricate piece of our shared musical landscape. The Graveyard is no place for anyone, so we must help keep his memory ALIVE.

Something Green and Leafy Comes this Way is my favorite punk album of all time. Got in 94 and it still holds up all these years later…amazing playing on that album surprised it doesn’t get more love than it does. RIP Chi!! True inspiration!

Epitaph Records was a cancer so comparing himself to those corporate goons and the garbage they released was certainly nothing to brag about. Albeit, his accomplishments were monumental to the art world in general. The bands Rancid, Bad Religion, NOFX, and the like were so f******** lame and it’s sad he felt they were even worth mentioning. 1, 2, SNFU!

I used to talk to Chi all the time when I hung out at pub 340. He was always sitting in the same booth near the front door, I assume so he could get and smoke, and he was always such a nice dude. No ego, no bullshit. Just Chi.

6 years ago I flew to Van for a show and I had the fortune of randomly running into Ken that afternoon. We chilled for a few hours, had a few beers, and talked about life and all sorts of random stuff. He didn't know about the show I was there to see but I told him to swing by and check it out. He showed up and next thing you know the band is pulling him up on stage to do a song with them. That was easily one of the best days ever. He was such a cool and down to earth dude and this interview perfectly captured what my experience was like with him. RIP to one of the realest people I've had the pleasure of crossing paths with. See you on the other side bud.

What is your favorite record?
@ImHiAdam3 ай бұрын
@@misterslats honestly it's a hard choice, something leafy is REALLY good, and never trouble trouble, is also REALLY good. Just like all of their albums.
@misterslats3 ай бұрын
@@ImHiAdam I live in Calgary which is 2.5 hours south of Edmonton. Bands in both cities would gig in the other city many times a year so I got to see SNFU real early (1983) and many many times. With over 40 years to think about it I still think the first record is untouchable. That said I think some of their best songs were late in their career. Cockatoo Quill is the very definition of poignancy. Brilliance. And although the Epitaph records never thrilled me there definetly was brilliance among them as well: Fate and Painful Reminder being two of their best. The strange thing is these songs came across best in a live setting when Chi was older, troubled and haggard-looking. If ever there was a guy who sold his soul to rock and roll it was Chi Pig. SNFU composed the very fibre of his being. Have you seen his documentary or read What No One Else Wanted To Say?
