Would currently go for a Bambu A1 Mini, its dirt cheap right now and the print quality without any amount of tuning at all is superb. Perfect beginner machine. Way easier to get into than the Prusa or Ender. After putting probably close to a thousand hours of research, tuning, modding and rebuilding into my other printer (a frankensteined Geetech A20M) the mini just blew it out of the water with default settings (only lowered the flow rate from 25 to 15 or so, but thats not even really necessary).

Thanks for the walk-through of your setup! I wonder if, as a best practice, there should be a BMS in addition to the balancer used in the video? Most information i've been able to track down , doesn't assume this chemistry.
@HouseDadLife8 күн бұрын
I had to do a ton of research before building this thing, the conclusion I came to was a balancer was enough. These cells are just very stable temperature wise and chemistry wise. I've looked for a video where they start on fire, every other lithium cell becomes violent, not these guys. People have used them to replace lead acid in vehicles without even adding a balancer and that seems to work. Insane cell life, the only downside I've ever been able to find is they don't have the energy density of the other lithium chemistries. I still use this cell every 2 weeks or so, either running a battery backup, powering an inverter, or powering a spot welder, still works like the day I built it.

Just got mine, still reading and watching youtubes. One of the first knives I'd like to work on with this machine I already partly sharpened with a Xarilk sharpener at 16°. The knife being a simple EDC, is it wise to keep the 16° on the Work sharp, or should I go for the advised 20°?
@HouseDadLife10 күн бұрын
I found the best results just following the instructions, some knives more, some less. I did play around a bit, the knives with the red handles in the video different degrees seemed to get just as sharp, but some edges held up longer, the ones where I did exactly what the instructions said. That's what I'm currently doing, hope that helps you, good luck.

@QualityHomeWinemaking5 күн бұрын
@@TonAkveld1956 This is a great question. When changing angles on a knife, the first step can take much longer to change the factory edge, instead if you already have a sharp knife at 15 degrees, use it that way, then the night time you need to sharpen it change it a degree at a time instead of going right to 20. This will save you having to take off a bunch of metal, or just stay at 15 for that knife. Pay attention to the burr when sharpening, this took me the longest to figure out. Good luck with whichever you choose to do.

I've found it fun to have. But our power has always been on the rather low end, so I don't think it will pay for itself. But it's certainly been nice to see the information. Definitely takes a while to sort out devices. I'm always disappointed when it finds a device, then later it loses it again because the device has changed a bit somehow so the power looks different. I do wish I could tell it devices. Like turning something on and off, and then going into the app and indicating what the device is that corresponded to that usually spike. Really unfortunate it can't do that. For interest sake, we've had ours for 2 years now.

At our last place our power was on the low end, when we moved not sure what happened, but we picked up a ton of always on leach devices. That's a fair comment, keep in mind these were cooked from frozen, and I do have the direct heat chamber closed, I prefer it this way so I can chuck the meat on, and walk away, not come back to a remake of the movie backdraft. We did keep our gas bbq for a season because no one had a pellet grill at the time and we had no idea if we'd like it. I would disagree about no difference in smoke taste between a gas grill and a pellet grill. There shouldn't be any smoke taste from a gas grill. That gas grill taste is from heat charring portions of the meat. Smoke taste is from smoke particles infusing the meat. For example, you're not going to get a hickory or mesquite taste from a gas grill. You need the wood for that. It seems you use your pellet grill more for grilling and less for smoking. I have a different brand pellet grill which I primarily use for smoking ribs, brisket, and the like.
@HouseDadLife22 күн бұрын
Maybe I should have clarified, I'm referring to the flavour you get from the fat dripping down and vaporizing, there's still some smoke flavor from that. As far as the wood smoke flavour, yeah there would be none of that on a gas grill. You're also right about smoking, at the time I made this video I had smoked almost nothing on it. Currently that's changed in a big way, it's become my favorite and probably most used option on it.
