You're a good man! I do not have enough vocabulary to describe how far and beyon this effort is compared to other typical explanations out there. Biggest component being the real world example on your own vehicle and not just making engine noises with your mouth. Thank you very much and please continue on the same path. It does not go unnoticed!

Will the stage 1 cam need to be tuned? If it doesn’t will it pass a clean smog in California, rebuilding engine and thinking of putting stage 1 cam but don’t want to have to worry about doing a dirty smog. thank you in advanced

Any camshaft with require a tune and thus fail a clean smog test. The PCM with read misfires at idle and the check engine light will turn on. I do not recommend replacing your cam if you plan to clean smog your vehicle

Another note, with electric choke, if your high idle screw is in too far, as in all the way like mine was, it will not allow your curb idle to be set properly. You may think that the choke system has nothing to do with these adjustments because you are doing it when its hot, but it does. Your high idle adjustment holds open the butterfly just a tickle on choke. If it doesn't kick out all the way after warm, it will continue to hold that butterfly open at idle, thus exposing your transfer slots too much. This will render your curb idle and idle mixture screws useless. It will cause surging at idle and cause a stumble off idle as well. You should be able to kill the engine by turning the curb idle out too much. If you can't, theres a problem. Once your curb idle is set, you should be able to kill the engine by screwing in the idle mixture screws all the way. If this doesn't happen, your engine is recieving fuel from somewhere it should not be(ie: transfer slots that are too exposed) On the other side of the spectrum, make sure your choke butterfly is opening all the way when hot. If this doesn't happen, you will be trying to adjust everything while slightly choked. I am aware other things may cause these same symptoms, this is just one example of tail chasing that I experienced. Hopefully this helps someone as I beat my head against the wall trying to figure this out. This was on a 4160 carb that I got for free that was "running when parked" lol

I am an old buzz box guy but had welds that looked like 2/3rd welds there. Now know what I am doing wrong from your video. My gun angle is the issue. I was 15 degrees measured from the incorrect vertical plane not the horizontal plane. I had the old buzz box angle. Thanks for this.

318s typically have low compression heads which is why the engines last so long. Swap the heads, do hedders and a dual exhuast and you will have plenty of power without the price tag of a 340 and get better mileage than a 360.

@NightWrencher
@NightWrencher 5 күн бұрын
For a street set up you wanna go with a smaller carb for better response and efficency. With that being said, a smaller carb on a big engine is harder to tune so if you want something easier, a proform 750 with minimal tuning would be a good choice

I just purchased the 200 ! Your video was reassuring ! Question : I thought I could mig weld with the flux wire, and not have to use shielding gas such as Argon with this unit. Am I wrong ? Do I need the gas ? Some post say yes, some say no & my Chinese sucks ! Also, is it better to use 220 vs 110. ? Thanks ! Great video !
@NightWrencher
@NightWrencher 6 күн бұрын
Hey bud, if youre running flux core wire, there is no need to add gas mix to it unless you are trying to weld with dual shield which is only used in industrial settings. I have run the machine exclusively on 110 and it has welded well up to .125" plate steel. I have not tried to weld thicker metal yet

I'm not a pro welder, but I think you are not the guy to be showing people how to weld lol. As others have said, your polarity looks backwards. You also have the wrong tip it seems. It looks like you were doing MIG and then just changed the wire for this video, but nothing else.

I just wrapped mine after replacing the heads. Now the motor is overheating. It has a new radiator, fresh TOYOTA OEM coolant, and everything else the same. I THINK wrapping the crossover pipe is causing overheating, but I am not sure yet. I can find no information from anyone anywhere who has tried wrapping it. 😕

I’m building a 6.0 lq9 30 over forged pistons from summit stock rods stock crank Gonna be going in a 95 Chevy single cab. What cam should I run? I wanna add boost later in the build and be around 850-900 hp
@NightWrencher
@NightWrencher 5 күн бұрын
stock 6.0 makes about 320whp or about 380 at the crank. At 15 lbs of boost you'll make about 640whp or about 860 at the crank. Swap to 799/LS1/LS6 heads for more compression, You dont need a super crazy cam to get you to 400whp so pick one that sounds good to you and put about 18lbs down with the turbo. The block can take it.
