In these situations, the Scout's gotta be a bro and draw the attention of the Bulk. In Salvage missions I frequently go Scout precisely because there is a chance that a Bulk might spawn during the fuel event and if we are lacking in firepower, it can end in a wipe.

Literally just had a mission like this, an 8 egg mission with leech infestation. We drop in, it's just one big cave with no splits basically. There was like 6nexus spawners, the radioactive rocks, countless spitters, and a horde on us getting out of pod Like did they make double XP vastly increase enemies

One time i was playing a hazard four mission fighting that one spiny boss. And everyone was down so i resorted to fox strats literally jumping up and diving into the ground creating pockets and got everyone back up to my bunkie.

Kinda defeats the purpose of the first choke point by creating a second choke point with an "emergency exit". The Driller is responsible for knowing when to dig out, digging out too soon and you leave right into a swarm, or create another access point for bugs that you need to cover, reducing the overall effectiveness of a bunker, too late, and that's only in a worst case scenario such as an Oppressor, will get you swarmed and killed. You do Not make an exit until you need it.

An open exit yes, but it can be worth making almost one. That way you don't have to rely on the driller to dig out if he goes down.

You do want to make sure if you dig a little to show where the exit will be that you don't dig out too far otherwise bugs can spawn in that area. This is why bunkers should be as small as possible whilst containing all the necessities and being as operable as possible.

You don't fully dig out the emerency exit, you leave a small bit of terrain so that it can be easily dug even by non-drillers. That way you get the single choke and also the emergency exit

funny thing was, you can see that leech that grabbed you when you killed the second spitballer at 1:06 in the upper left corner. I honestly don't know why it hadn't grabbed you before then.
