The farm I hunted last year has almost no ground hogs left, I was very aggressive last year, and am looking for new ground close to tge intersection of I 70 and I 77

@kevinelliott9679 yes I have found that it takes at least 3 years of consistently killing 80% of the population to make any difference. The problem we have is that there are so many groundhogs that live in the surrounding woods! Honestly, I have a lot of farms to hunt, and sometimes I cannot cover all of them! Sort of feel guilty not doing my part on some of the farms. I have now started trapping groundhogs on these farms around barns and sheds.

Best powder? It all depends upon bullet weight and barrel length. For a 24" tube and 150 to 168 gn bullet, IMR 4064 is very hard to beat. 175 gn SMK ? Varget or R15.5 is hard to beat. Fact is there's no perfect powder

A little tip for next time you have to sight something in... Ditch the hot hands and get some foil a/c ducting tape... Make a cross with 4 pieces and leave a center square open with no tape... Angle your target slightly towards the sky and you'll have a nice crisp target... The hot hands are alright but they give off a blurry image unless they're suspended

Sometimes too fast is too much! I build my own with $30 ZVS board and $50 1000W power supply and a wound my own coil. It takes 1.7 seconds to anneal .223, just a tad slower but also I go when it starts to glow but I actually do have Tempilaq that I still haven't tried. But I think even that is too fast, I think that a slower anneal will produce more even heat. I noticed the anneal line is not even, I don't know if that matters or not. I think that maybe I need to make another coil and increase the ID from lets say .750 to .800".
@AP2020_Outdoors
@AP2020_Outdoors 4 күн бұрын
@DimaProk I am not sure on the anneal rate of time. However, the Annie coils tend to "center" the case when it starts to induct = an very even anneal around the circumference. The bid advantage to the Annie coils is that they are water cooled which a lot of home made induction coils are not. Over the course of several hundred anneals, that can lead to failures.
@DimaProk
@DimaProk 4 күн бұрын
@@AP2020_Outdoors Yes, I learned that water cooling is a must when I burned out my first ZVS board a while back, but I was using to temper small steel parts and ran minutes at a time. Its a must and not only that, adding a fan on top of the board is needed, after I went through 150 - 200 cases in one sitting I measured capacitor to reach 140F (70C) which is a limit for plastic capacitor. Now what I've seen on the forum one person using ferrite C ring and litz wire wound around it and its not water cooled and he doesn't have a problem with it overheating. I actually though about doing that few years back. It might cost extra but the idea that you don't have to deal with water, tubes, pump and radiator is appealing. Now the uneven line wasn't because the case wasn't centered, I can also see mine getting pulled magnetically and shifted sometimes, but the fact that coil is not a perfect circle but a spiral, part of it is higher and part of it is lower and I think the sheer intense heat creates uneven line around the case due to this geometry of coil. Another difference mine is double layer and only 3.5 loops so its concentrated more in smaller area which honestly I prefer more. I noticed that by how far down the case the "burn mark" and how you have the case in the coil same as I do. Annie actually also offers double layer coil but its only appears to be 2.5 loops which I think is insane. Here I am thinking I need to either widen the coil or maybe add another loop and they go in opposite direction!

I appreciate the video, thank you. Which 457 was that? Looked like a longer barrel, was it the American? Anyways…CZ puts out some very accurate rim fires, I own two. I can not attest to any of their center fire rifles as I have not handled one. I’ve recently gotten into rim fire, more specifically 22LR including shooting ARA matches. Here are a few things I’ve learned along the way. Ammunition will vary from barrel to barrel, not rifle brands. Consistently will also vary between lot numbers of the ammunition. This would apply mostly to your match grade ammunition, Eley, Lapua, SK etc., so test and find what your rifle really likes. After market trigger will make a difference, you’re a good friend for switching it out. For the budget minded person, Yodave offers a spring kit for the CZ that is very popular. When ammo testing, a minimum of 10 fouling shots before shooting groups will yield better results. Different ammo manufacturers use different waxes/lubricants and getting the barrel seasoned will give you a better idea how it’s going to perform for you. There is some science to barrel length and accuracy with 22LR. Same can be said for ammunition velocity. Feel free to go down those rabbit holes. In a nutshell, 16”-20” barrel lengths yield the best results and staying subsonic out of the barrel will produce better accuracy results.

@richardmcmaster4008 Yes I think it is the American. I will definitely take your advise regarding the different lubes that 22LR ammo makers use. I am a centerfire shooter and reloader by trade! Not that I have not shot 22 rimfires my whole life, I just never went down that rabbit hole regarding precision 22 rimfire shooting! Thank you Sir!

It was a question my buddy asked. He wanted me to shoot his rifle to see if it was him or something else. Honestly, I am no expert when it comes to 22 rimfires. My forte is centerfire shooting. However, I told him that he should start with an aftermarket trigger, as his stock trigger could use some improvement. Yes, to the "seasoned" rimfire "experts", this may sound like a ridiculous question. To casual shooters wanting to get a little more accuracy, not so much. The comments on my video have been very good. I had heard about the different lubricants various rimfire ammunition utilize, but I never paid attention to the concept. You learn something new every day, right? Right! So, with that now known, time for me to go down this rimfire rabbit hole??? Lol.

Lapua, Sk and Wolf use the same lubricant. Eley And CCI use paraffin wax. Years ago a small bore competitor taught me to season the bore with 25 rounds before going for groups when switching between ammunition types or at least their lubrication in order to truly see you, which ammunition is best. Love, CZ’s but gotta say that one’s not shooting all that great. I have a 452 Ultra Lux that would be easily shoot in the point twos and threes at 50 and well under an inch at 100 as long as you season the board with the lubricants. Good luck and great review.

That's downright mean shooting ammo that's no longer available! I've always heard good things about CZ although I've never owned one. My accurate .22lr is an AMT copy of the 10-22 (all stainless). I've got a few Volquartsen trigger parts, an Adams & Bennet .920 barrel and a Revolution Tundra thumbhole stock. It's topped off with a Leupold 6.5 x 18 scope. It really likes the Wolf ammo, either the Match Extra or the Match Target (I don't remember for certain) and shoots a consistent .37" for 10 shots at 25 yards. I also find that not cleaning out the barrel between brands can affect accuracy of a not-so-great ammo. For instance, I can shoot several rounds of the Wolf ammo then switch to something like Remington Thunderbolts and the first 4 or 5 shots will group much better than normal. I'm sure it has something to do with the different lube quality. So my routine when testing ammo is to give the barrel a quick clean (I use fishing line, never a rod in my target rifle) and then fire 10 shots of the ammo to be tested into the berm. Then 10 shots on target. No misleading results that way! I've tried a few other tricks, such as weighing and sorting cartridges but it seems to make very little difference in the long run. Of course, that's getting way more anal about accuracy than I usually get! But it does shoot! Cheers, jc

I believe your a good man that has been lied too about our current administration. Please, if you are truly a patriot do these things. Watch "Trump and american dream" This show will explain who trump was threw out his life before politics. Then watch Unfit, another good show of factual content. Finally watch many of the shows about Trump and the republicans on PBS Frontline. During the Trump presidency you need to look at legislation that was passed too see if he really is whom he says he is. He made the largest tax cuts in the history of this nation for the ultra wealthy and big corporations. Tariffs he installed are paid by you the consumer, not China, effectively raising your cost of living. He cut funding for all the government agencies that help make this country great like parks and recreation, center for disease control, food and drug administration, then giving the savings to the wealthy. These are all government entities that keep the tax paying public safe, happy and productive. The government wants you to be successful. FYI the more money you make and successful you are, the more taxes you pay. Look at the legislation passed to remove environmental protections. The Republicans are the ones who are the deep state destroying our environment for corporate greed. God Bless, hope you actually look into these things and realize the truth. I believe the odds are this shooter realized that he had been lied too and was very angry with Trump, whom he defended for years. He was a staunch Republican!

Just stumbled across the video but do you use a chrono to know the FPS or calculating it with your load development? Since you're simulating the distance with the loading of the cartridge and by just changing the FPS it will affects the RPM of the projectile. Would like to know the actual RPM of the projectile at those distances with a standard loading. Because I am not sure if they correlate with the FPS simulating loads. Like the video but feel this doesn't really show the performance of the round due to each simulated load will either reduces or increases the RPM but I like the content and subscribed
@AP2020_Outdoors
@AP2020_Outdoors 14 күн бұрын
@jonnnydshow I am not sure if you quite understand that the reduced velocity loads I tested DO equate to the SAME RPM of the bullets at downrange distances. A 1:3 twist rate will IMPART a consistent 1 complete revolution in 3 inches of linear travel. The gel block does not care if I shot it with a bullet travelling 1,800 fps from a distance of 10 yards, or if I shot the same gel block at 250 yards with the same bullet travelling at 1,800 fps. The IMPACT velocity is what is relevant.
@jonnnydshow
@jonnnydshow 14 күн бұрын
@@AP2020_Outdoors I get what you're saying but I don't think the actual RPM of the round correlates to the FPS at distance of the round it isn't a linear equations. Velocity and angular kinetic energy act very differently and reduce at different rates especially with 8.6 BLK mass. Hence why I bring it up because 8.6 BLK is highly regarded due to its twist rate and being able to transfer its rotational energy into the target.
